Another oldy but goody for '03 got dredged up today...got me thinking:eek:

I had made this suggestion in anther thread but it did not get any comments, so I thought I would bring it up in it's own thread:

What I think would solve the problem...would be an alert that would warn the poster:

Caution!
The thread you are replying to is x-number years old...are you sure you want to continue?

A good number would be 1 year old I think, but this is probably complicated. Need to ask the makers of vBulletin for an option in the next update.

Your suggestion might prevent people from doing this by accident. It will have no effect on people who are doing this on purpose.

One member had recently been finding old posts and adding a comment that recommended his product. I think the moderators have deleted his comment, but it still gave an old post new life. I don't think it's a big enough deal to require action...

Do we have a clear policy on reviving old threads? I ask because some boards I frequent discourage people from starting a new thread if the issue has been discussed in an old thread.
I don't see the harm either way.
The only time it becomes a nuisance is if someone revives a 5 year old "Help Me Please" thread and we all rush to the rescue like fools who don't notice dates' :) But then again, that's probably how the thread got revived in the first place.
