Any Dave Ramsey fans?

I try to listen to his radio show but don't hear it much since we don't have it locally. I did get to see his town hall meeting a few weeks ago and found it very interesting and entertaining.

I had figured out some of the things he teaches before I found him so his advise kinda backs up what I already learned myself.

So just wondering if they is any Dave Ramsey fans on here.

Yep, listen to him on either Sirius XM or a local radio station. He also has a TV show on Fox Business.

Our local radio station carries his show, so I hear it almost daily. Very much common sense, Don't spend what you don't have, or can't make, which was pretty much how I was raised

He basically says all the things my dad tried to teach me, but that I was too smart to learn. I got it all pretty well fiquired out several years ago and then I started hearing Dave's show. I've given some of his books and advice too my kids, but they are too smart to listen to the old man.
We have been debt free for 5 or 6 years, built a house using only cash, and purchased all of our vehicles and equipment without getting loans.
What he says works if you will work at it.

I read somewhere that Americans are saving like never before and we have no chance of recovery unless the borrowing and spending starts soon???

Can't seem to win either way...

That's because of the economic crisis. If what happened never happened to jobs etc, people would still be borrowing & spending like no tomorrow.. I will help the recovery process in cash purchases

A recovery based on cash purchases may be slower but will be much more subtainable

I gave a talk on credit cards to a bunch of college kids a few years ago because it seemed like a bunch of them were running up balances and then had problems paying them off. What I especially don't like is that there used to be usury laws that limited the interest rates on these things, and now some states go out of their way to make their laws friendly to credit card companies. People don't read the fine print and the companies have lots of fine print that let them jump their rates and fees if a payment is late. I think the companies make their profit off folks who get a little behind and can never catch up. Sophisticated loan sharking is about what it is.

This stuff that Ramsey does should covered in high school. What the heck are they teaching kids in school anyway?

Sure the recovery is underway--if you have the right government connections and are in line for one of the government contracts. Otherwise, get your wallet ready to pay for the "recovery."
