Need to make lawn SMOOTH and Ideas???

Reading all these options make me think my method might be incorrect. I just set the mower a little low and scalp the high spots. Then allow the weeds to naturally grow into the (now lower) bare spots.

LOL I thought I was the only one using my mower to flatten rough areas.

I have used a tiller and a BB on some of the worst areas that I wouldn't dare drag my RFM over. A year or two later and those areas are better. I also managed to create a few new rough areas by tractor work in wet conditions.

When I do a lawn, I till it just enough to take the sod off. Push it in a pile to remove and then till it to powder.

Take a good 2x12 about 10-12ft long and lag it to the bucket. Most buckets have some holes drilled in them. Then eyeball the terrain and find the high spots and the lows and back drag to level. With a little practice you will find that you are packing and planing at the same time. After you are done with that, some finish with a rake you are ready for planting.

I have found this to be the fastest way. Of course the length of board will depend on the size of tractor and how much you are trying to move at a time. The longer the board the better leveling job you will have.

Hardly!!!! Some of my friends have mentioned to me that a HD brush hog is not a milling machine for an acreage, this after seeing the "tracks" I leave when mowing in rough spots. It might be a trend as now that I think about it I did it when in later grade school too when using a push-it-yourself gas powered lawn mower.
