Who makes a quality 5 gal gas can?

/ Who makes a quality 5 gal gas can? #12
Hi...My son is co-owner of a motocross track and we use many 5 gallon gas cans to fuel the various generators, quads, water pumps, etc.
We have tried many types of cans including motocross race containers. To date we have yet to find a type that holds up very long without leaking or being difficult to fuel with.
Anybody out there have a favorite?.....thanks,Mike.

The best gas cans I have ever found are the German-design where lid held closed with claw and pin locking system. They are not CARB compliant, so may not do you any good.

Wedco Jerrycan: Fuel Cans:Jerry cans:Wedco
"This 20 liter Petrol Jerrycan holds 5.3 US gallos of gasoline and this awesome jerrycan unfortunately is not for sale in California, Connecticut,Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvaniam Virginia, and Washington DC as these states have CARB Compliance Regulations. This Wedco jerrycan is identical to the models used by NATO forces and this can features the locking pin on the cap to prevent the cap from opening accidentaly and is red in color to meet DOT regulations for gasoline containers. We stock all Wedco jerrycans for when you need them and are brand new, not repainted surplus cans. The Wedco 20 Liter Petrol Jerrycan Spout shown is sold sepetately. "

Added:
They also have CARB-compliant versions but uses a screw lid, no experience or knowledge of how well it works. Love the claw style though.

The WEDCO's are QUALITY for sure. I've used a few of the original designs and they DO NOT leak. They are also HEAVY.....then again...built like a tank what do you expect?

The Hummer site is nearly NINETY bucks for a can and a spout with shipping!!

I've searched the net and can't come up with anyone selling the WEDCO's other than the Hummer site and some expedition site. Both are close to a hundred bucks with shipping. Maybe E-Bay??

The Govt intrusion into our lives never ceases to amaze me. Now there will be a black market for PRE BAN GAS CANS that actually dispense fuel without dripping on your shoes. The worthless buereacrats once again saving us from ourselves! sheesh!

FN, The FEDS are brutal, aren't they?...let's not release fumes but, gobs of gas on the ground is OK....BRILLIANT!!
Here in N.Y. they have enacted another beauty.....You cannot transport firewood more than 50 miles because they are worried about the spread of the "Emerald Ash Borer" but, wait if I'm not mistaken this pest has made it to OHIO from Asia in record time.....yeah they're going to stop it.
To make matters worst I just got home from the track, where I cut my wood and for the **** of it I set my trip odometer, guess what?....51.2 miles....I suppose they will be hauling me out of bed in the middle of the night......Geez.....Mike.

Here's another vote for those cans from an old motocrosser. I've used 4 of these cans for the last 5 years or so after being tired of screwing around with leaky and flimsy plastic cans. I really like those cans and they flat don't leak when closed and their spouts don't dribble.

Yeah...I agree. I live in relatively FREE Montana. Few people care what your doing unless it's REALLY out of hand. I'm currently in NJ helping my Mom as she just had some surgery. WHAT a 180 degree change!!

I almost caused a riot the other day by PUMPING MY OWN GAS!! Like I was trying to bust up the AFL/CIO or something.

Then deposited some checks in my moms account at the Bank. Asked for a balance and was told since I was NOT named on the account...no balance...State Law!!

Replaced her old mattress with a new "Sleep Number Air Bed" system and needed to get rid of the OLD mattress. I swear..I could probably get rid of a dead BODY easier than the crap I went through to dispose of this damned thing! The Rules,Laws, and local Govt INTRUSION is out of hand here.

RANT MODE...OFF

I think I may spend the buck$ and treat myself to a quality gas can...one of the WEDCO's for diesel...in yellow! The fact that it is NOT carb compliant makes it even more tempting!!

LOL I didn't want to 'quote' your entire post, but I know what you're talking about. I'm even more of a rebel; I actually use all red WEDCO cans no matter if I need it for gas or diesel. If you see no more posts from me, you'll know the gas can police came and took me away.

THese sceptre cans are great.Scepter Consumer - Regular Fuel Containers I was skeptical because they dont have a vent hole, but the new nozzle (yellow) with the built in vent works excellent. I dont like the "eco" cans with the built in overflow prevention. They are better balanced than the traditional style too.

Looks like the "yellow" nozzle style arent available in the US. I think the eco style are approved for the US. If thats the case, you can buy the cans in the US, and the nozzels in canada.

I just TREATED myself to a new WEDCO diesel can with spout from the hummer hub site. Last night I almost bought one online but the UPS on a single can was nearly FORTY bucks. Apparently there was an error as shipping today on a single can and spout was $16.

I'm afraid I couldn't dispense/transport diesel into a RED can then be able to look myself in the mirror for some time. I'm one of those weirdos that has to use the right tool for the job, things have to MATCH, be properly LABELED, be the proper COLOR, etc. I think it's called **** which is really not a description I care for...prefer Obsessive Compulsive far more.:D

To illustrate....my new B2620 is getting a new bush hog in with the purchase deal. All the dealer had were JD green or TAN BH's!!! Could You IMAGINE a green attachment to my RED tractor??? I surely could NOT! So I'm waiting for my RED BH to arrive.
