Kubota BX series ridiculous transmission

/ Kubota BX series ridiculous transmission #11
When I first had my BX22 there were a lot of complaints that the tractor wouldn't always stop when you let your foot off the pedal. Mine did that too, one time it would stop, and the next time it might not in the same way at least. I think Kubota responded to those complaints by tightening up the valving, or something, and perhaps went a bit the other way. I will say that my Simplicity Legacy can be pretty abrupt too, and will get your attention at times if you forget, especially in reverse, and I doubt that the 50 series BX's are any worse. It is a matter of understanding the beast.

Some people shouldn't own tractors.

Or computers.

And some people shouldn't be a doormat. The fact that there痴 a problem with the BX 50 series transmission is not disputed by Kubota. How they are handling the problem is disputed. I don稚 plan on being a doormat for a company that doesn稚 give a crap about you, me or any BX owner.

I would suggest reading up on tractor safety simply because you sound as if it would better serve you and your wife to do so before you become another statisic.
One look at the video shows more than we need to know about folks that should not be on motorized equipment, let alone something with a PTO device. The indivdual is backing down a slope, improperly weighted front end, sandels and shorts. I have included some links you can read in your leasure.

Thanks for the safety links. However, this thread is regarding the BX transmission, not tractor safety. That video was to illustrate one of many annoying traits of the dysfunctional transmission. It is not a safety video.

As an FYI the stopping is just as abrupt without weight on back.

I don't know if this was the first tractor you ever owned and bought but I would think you would have driven it first before buying it. If you have experience with tractors then you can comment on how they compare to others. Could it be operator error??? Not bashing you but are you sure there is a problem with all the BX tractors???

There have been other threads with this same subject and I will again wonder... did you drive it on the dealer's lot? I test drove a BX24 on the lot it wheeled up like a bronco. And I bought something else (really for the ground clearance - but that's beside the point). I find it hard to believe that someone would not have noticed this operational trait on the lot and simply bought something else.

Owned 2 gear drive garden tractors and 2 hydro garden tractors. The fact there is a transmission problem is not in debate. In fact, Kubota agrees and has been attempting to fix the problem with little luck.

I bought mine without a test drive. After close to 20 years of owning and operating different Kubotas I saw no reason to test it. From now on I will test drive!!!! Kubota did make my deal right and I now have a 60 series to replace that miserable 50 series.:D

You are right, I have only to blame myself for buying this tractor. I did test drive it and notice it, but never thought that any transmission would operate this badly. I never test reverse when I buy a car, but now I will!

You were smart Kevin. They tore down my transmission to fix it (failed at that) and now they won't do a buy-back. I'm hosed!
