B7610 Front Axle Leak

I checked the oil level in the front axle yesterday and observed (and felt) what I consider excessive positive pressure when I removed the dipstick. I have checked the oil level in the front axle before, but never noticed (or recall) this much positive pressure built up inside the axle housing.

I couldn't help but wonder if this excessive pressure contributed to the "wetting" I have observed on the left front axle flange.

And lastly, has anyone else noticed this on their B7610? I would have thought there would be a vent to prevent this kind of pressure build-up.

I have the 7510 and changed the front end to 80w-90 with recommendations from my dealer. The plug was hard to get out and I had to twist and pull as well, it certainly is not easy to get a grip on. I don't have any weeping yet but I will be keeping an eye on it now that I know. The heavy oil is much darker then the sudt easier to see on the dipstick. I wonder if you could add some food coloring to the sudt to make it stand out? Anyone try this?

I had a ford , that would buildup alot of pressure specially when running on the road I would have 'wetting' and then leaking on the front seals.
I replaced the plug with a 1/2 in pvc water plug and drilled a couple of holes to vent in it.I dont understand why they are vented in any way formt he git go.

I had the same problem with my 04 B7610.Dealer fixed one side,i brought it home ,two wks. later the other side started leaking.Ended up trading it in for a B26,not because i did'nt like the 7610,but just wanted something heavier.
The B26 has'nt leaked yet.....i'm keeping my fingers crossed.
When i had the 7610,i remember doing a search on TBN and found a piece about "venting" the front axle.Try doing a search under "venting front axle".There was a step by step thing with pictures and all.Worth a try.

I thought of that also, but isn't food coloring water based?

There are commericially made additives to color oils for visibility and identification .....This came up in a thread on checking hudraulic oil on the silly yellow dipstick..Hard to see....

But of course I didn't write down the information then....
