The Head and hydraulic kit showed up today! I have not seen them yet but hopefully tomorrow after a small job I will have time to get down there.

I just got a quote on a Cat 272.....62,800 that's a bit more than I figured.

That is way too much for the 272C. I have a quote in hand on a brand new one loaded with CHA, hydraulic coupler, Hi-Flo XPS, Machine Security System (chip in key, can't start w/o it), bucket w/ boc, HD root grapple, Debris barrier/guarding packages, counter weights, OTT tracks (loegering), and a $9000 16" tree shear. All that for $5000 less than you were quoted.
I am waiting for delivery on a 299C that is loaded, counter weights, air suspension seat, hi flo, hyd coupler, CHA C3, Performance TL3, debris/guarding, machine security, bucket w/ boc. Configured like that it is $5500 less than your quote.
Let me know if you need more info.

Thank vpexp.

Here's a few shot of the head.
First impressions...quality and attention to detail; excellent welds, heavy gauge steel, nice finish (especially the logo), even the parts manual is in a binder with covered pages. More later.

that is a BEAUTIFUL thing right there....one thing that always impresses people on first sight is the sheer bulk and over build on our heads...they are built like tanks...looks like it will survive a nuclear blast

Even the shipping pallet is pretty nifty... Nice rig!

I like it a lot .

Is there any way of having one built so it spins bottom forward ? I'd bet money that pictured head would cut better as it was swung from left too right as it will be spinning bottom forward . But i would want it so it could still be swung right too left so i could see what was in front of it . Chopping down on springy material and swinging in the direction of rotation in my opinion , would not be as efficient as cutting upwards against the firm root system (the way a scythe works).

Ted, I've been waiting for someone in this area to get a Cimaf head. If your running that unit near eastern Ct I'd love to come by and see it in action.

Will do Matt, as soon as it's up and running it will be in the Greenfield, MA area for 2-3 weeks then....

Got some of the piping done today, still need to mount the priority valve and rework some of the hoses. I also mounted the mower.

A few more photos.
