Will do Matt, as soon as it's up and running it will be in the Greenfield, MA area for 2-3 weeks then....

Got some of the piping done today, still need to mount the priority valve and rework some of the hoses. I also mounted the mower.

A few more photos.

Cool, I'll be working in Ware about that time so I doesn't look too far.

No mate , I mean turn the cutters around the other way and spin the rotor in the opposite direction , the same as a flail mower . Bottom forward to scoop up the brush from the bottom and lift it into the mulching chamber instead of stomping it down into the dirt .

I notice you didn't get the gate. If you are working in built up area's or close to other equipment you are most likely gonna want the gate. I didn't really want one on mine but I got it anyway. I've run it without the gate and man talk about projectiles, they shoot almost a hundred yards. its your choice but I would recommend it.

P.S I worked alongside another manufacturer's rotary mulcher this winter for a week and the second week they were "Let go" because of lack of production and appearance of finished material..... Your gonna love the mulcher. Oh yeah of those seven days the other mulcher was broken 5 of them. These are really industrial. Almost indestructible.

Thank vpexp.

Here's a few shot of the head.
First impressions...quality and attention to detail; excellent welds, heavy gauge steel, nice finish (especially the logo), even the parts manual is in a binder with covered pages. More later.

Hello Iron Horse,

What you describe is actually part of the way the operators work with our machines:

They do a first pass from right to left, at a certain height above the ground (+/- 3-ft), using the side of the rotor that goes top down. This throws small stuff far behind, and bigger stuff down on the ground.

Then, close to the ground, they swing back from left to right. The rear of the brushcutter being open, what the rotor bites is sucked from off the ground into the rotor and gets out of the front in chips.

This two-pass way of working allows to clear the view on the 1st pass and see what's under the vegetation cover, and to do the finishing on the 2nd pass, avoiding the rocks by tilting the head with the bucket cylinder.

Note: the "sucking effect" works best with sharp blades. And this leads to the following formula:
Sharp blades =
better pick up from off the ground =
less need to play in the dirt =
longer blade life

So keeping blades sharp = keeping lower cost of operation.

Now, Iron Horse, when do you want yours? ;)

And hang on, all, good times are coming :)

By the way, Iron Horse, I like your disclaimer-like signature :)

Thanks Fred , I'd love one . The open chamber , the feed limiting rings on the rotor and the sharp tools impress me , but I really would like to have the knock down mode on the left to right pass and the final cut on the right to left pass so I can watch it do it's thing . I think it would help me to make it follow the contours and stop it scalping . Not being able to see the rate it is being fed and what it is being fed would bother me .

Hello IronHorse,

Rather than hijack further QwikDraw's thread, I started another one to further discuss the reverse-rotation possibilities.
