I am about to purchase a DK35se HST for $17k but there seems to be a big difference in prices throughout the country. I can save a cool $1k by driving 200 miles (no delivery). Then I read on TBN of prices in the $14K region. The local dealer says that thier cost is $16,300. The dealer cites shipping costs as the reason, but I am not sure. Why is there such a difference?

My local dealer tells me that this is indeed regional. Usually a result of dealerships closing and nearby dealerships picking up the extra inventory. This does not benefit dealers who can't tap into this surplus inventory as many consumers find that having a tractor transported 400 miles is still cheaper than buying local.

So did you decide on a tractor ?

Yes. But I won't reveal it just yet. Need to take pics and go through the "my first tractor, welcome me aboard" post.

Not that my decision is not obvious... ;)

Yeah, the quotes with a FEL.
You may want to check back with your dealer? The FEL, for all models up to a 401 loader - come with a free loader. There's also an econony model out now that has a 402 loader that's also in the free loader group.

The bobcat ct235 is basically the same tractor, with a white coat. It also comes with a free loader, and instant rebate, of up to 3500. You may want to check it out.

Wow, when I was inquiring here in Maine last month, I was quoted $21900 with FEL. Is your quote with FEL?

Come to think of it, when I was inquiring about prices, I was looking at the 0%/60 month program (which cannot be coupled with the free FEL program). The quote probably included the price of the FEL. So ~$18K with free FEL seems about right.

i was quoted a dk45se hst in two states and the price was $3000 difference. i don't understand the difference either.
