Well I finally got to use my ride for something "real".
Witness 1 ugly stump, about 2 foot in diameter, tree cut down about 5 years ago (pic1).
Made a few swipes last night, but Tstorms rolled in.
After about 3.5 hours seat time I got it broke off (second pic). It only had a few major side roots but they were all down about 1 foot plus deep.
Finally got it out (obligatory picture holding up the captured stump).
All backhoe work except cleaning up the piles and filling in the hole.
Only 4 cold O'Douls consumed for cold "adult" beverages.
Good learning experience. Perfect weather.

I might even mount it, in my fireplace.

Note for those looking at BH's -
There was a lot of discussion when I was buying mine. Several recommended a smaller BH, either a Woods 6000 or the Kubota B4672. Well the BH70 can definitely move my 7610 around easily. But there were a lot of times I really used the full extension and "curl" power.

Stumpin' can be fun and very challenging. Great job on that large stump, it will get easier each time you do one (unless you hit that dreaded tap root!).

You mean something like in the picture?

/edit -
A large stump would be something I couldn't pick up with my BH. The taproot just made it interesting.
That darn root went down 6 feet below the root ball before it broke off.

Crap, I didn't notice the tap root the first time I looked. Makes your removal even more impressive to those of use (probably just me) that didn't notice it on the first look.

So it has been a couple of years but a story is a story.

Tractor arrived late last year, it was fall, still on the warm side , wait I am not writing a novel LoL.

When the tractor arrived I immediately got to work on two stumps, one newly cut down 30 foot Pine (shame to have cut it down but the wife) and one was an old Locus (sp) 50 feet high, cut down a long time ago but in there like a rock still.
Running at only 1800 rpms, the Pine was the most work but after 2 hours digging a 6 foot hole both in OD and deep it came loose. I had to roll it out of the hole and tie it to the FEL to move it but it got done !
The old one was out in about an hour, maybe a little longer but it was the second one and it came out in a smaller ball than the pine.

My little tractor, the CCY-SC2450, is a worker plus for me.
Saved me from digging both of the stumps out and a small stone wall, nothing fancy, and this year it is the Drainage Ditch and the Patio/Firepit to get things started.

Thks for listening.
