Bought everything needed to do 50 hour maintenance and got as far as oil filter removal. Drained engine oil and then attempted to remove oil filter. Filter is way too tight but this seems factory typical? I am using band type filter wrench, however filter is about an inch too short to clear hoses and frame member so getting a good grip on filter is not possible. Having loader in the way prevents getting as close as I would like but am hesitant to remove entire loader to solve that problem. Anyone have any ideas? Would love some help.

End cap filter wrenches
For many common oil filters. Cup design allows easy filter removal and installation from the end of the filter, even in tight locations. Use with 3/8" square drive. With universal joint and a couple extensions you could reach the filter from anywhere
Important: Bring filter with you to store to match fluted end of the oil filter with the filter wrench to ensure you have the proper wrench size.

You might have to put oil back into the tractor to get the filter off....I know that I have to start my 6000 and let it get to operating temp before I can get the oil filter off of it.. I learned this trick from a guy that had to warm up his Ford F250 diesel in order to get his filter off as well....let us know how you fare.....without pics, its hard to visualize your filter situation. I tried all the auto supply stores in this area and never found a end cap wrench that wold fit the little Mitso filter on my 2815. Not room to get any leverage with a strap type either. Local Wal-Mart has a Fram wrench that looks kinda like a spanner that is good for 2.5" to 4.25". Might be a new item. It works great on all my tractor oil and hydraulic filters. p/n FW401, about $7
sears sells a clamp type filter wrench that is adjustable it grabs the end of the fitler Craftsman Filter Wrench
Sorry for taking so long to update this post. It has been raining almost every day since I got stuck with filter removal. I did try to find filter wrench recommended by Unclebuck but one auto parts store nearby could not help me. Bobg mentioned getting engine hot before trying removal and I had already done that although not for that reason. I always run engines before oil changes, however I do it for better oil flow to make sure it all comes out. He has good point though. Yesterday I finally gave it another go with a strip of sandpaper about an inch wide wrapped around filter between wrench band and filter. This was mentioned to me by old timer I happened to talk to at nearby chain saw repair shop. It worked! I went very slowly and after about 4 or 5 turns an inch or so at a time, it loosened up! What a relief.

Sounds like you were able to get the filter off.
I have an 1815 tractor and I had the same problem on my first oil change, but I couldn't get a band type wrench on the filter just not enough room.
I found a different type of filter wrench that worked pretty well.
It's adjustable for different sizes and gets a good grip on the filter.

The oil filter on my Mahindra 5525 is almost completely obstructed by one of the FEL support members.
I can get to the bottom of the filter and to the top 1" of the filter. So I use this $9 Fram filter pliers from Walmart to grab around the accessible top of the filter.
Works fine.

Oh that is as roomy as the king's castle compared to removing the filter on my Toyota Highlander.
I looked for it for an hour and then spent 20 minutes searching on the internet before I could find it. Tucked up behind the exhaust manifold for one side of the V-6. Don't warm up the engine before changing that puppy.
I use this Harbor Freight Wrench nearly every time I change an oil filter. I think I paid less than $3 for them. I've got a nice band type filter wrench, and one of those end cap jobs that fit on a ratchet; but this one gets me in tighter places than anything else.
Back about 20 years ago I had filters that would be so snug that the band wrench would crush them. I'd run a screwdriver through the filter and either spin it off or end up ripping the outer shell off then using a pair of needle nose pliers and a screwdriver. I'd stick the two ends of the nose in opposite oil holes and take the screwdriver and use it to get leverage on the handles of the pliers.
