My only concern in this mess is for the US Military

As others have mentioned and you may not have known, the military humVEE is not affected by this sale of the hummER brand name.

You should probably go back and read the entire thread from the beginning. ;)

The way i see it is someone getting $14 Million for ANYTHING is wrong. Be it a pro sports player or someone in management. I dont see what anyone can do to deserve that amount.

Lets look at Home Depot under Naridelli. Shares declined 8%. He recieved $225 Million. Think about that. Then to rub salt in the wounds he gets a $210 Million golden parachute!!!!

Thats $435 Million dollars for wrecking a company and devaluing shareholders portfolios. If we pay these salaries to land "talent", then i think id rather give the guy in the mailroom a chance at $20k a year. Not like he could do much worse. Executive compensation has to be brought inline and be tied to company performance (besides the stock prices paid on options). If i do something stupid and lose my job, theres no parachute for me, so why should there be for them.

And i also have to agree that its not too hard to see the management types in this thread. The line between white and blue color is pretty obvious.

People are not paid what they deserve, they are paid what someone is willing to pay them, from the mailroom to the boardroom. I don't want anyone telling me I can't earn above x dollars.

A CEO has a contract, if it has performance clauses in it he/she has to live up to it. If it doesn't, he/she doesn't.

Actually, it's not white and blue collar, it's people with facts and people with emotion and class envy.

That's pretty funny. I'm an anti-union, pro make however much money you want, work wherever you want, quit if you don't like it kind of guy. I make average wages, so does my wife, and we've been debt free for many moons.

I have no problems with a reasonable salary for management. To me 1-2 million for the CEO should be more than enough. Thats 66 times what the guy on the floor making 30K gets. The CEO's one year salary would me more than twice what that man would see in a lifetime to put it in perspective.

No its not about class envy, at least not for me. Its about whats reasonable. Especially in these times, with CEO's eating at the government trough, after running these companies into the ground.

I will have to assume your talking about GM in which the "workers" are just as much to blame as any CEO for running the company into the ground. IMO

I think the sports star <-> CEO analogy is pretty accurate. Some of these CEO's command big $$ because they are considered 'Superstars'. This is why they can command the 'golden parachutes' in their contracts that essentially pay no matter what.
