What attachments did you THINK you needed but don't use much?

Once again the "group think" has taken an idea, changed it and run it to ground.

I'm not talking about SELLING things, I'm talking about LOANING tractor attachments.

So now I've got a 4' box blade and a FarmForce Trailer Mover I'm willing to loan.

Maybe its just Me . But a wordwide forum such as this doesn,t seem to be the best place for an idea like this. Might be different elsewhere , But Where I,m at if a neighbor or any one local wants to borrow something They just need to ask . I on the other hand would not choose to borrow others equipment .

I'm with Cowboy. It seems a bit nutty to me to think about trying to loan tractor attachments to people more than 50 miles away. This forum is at the minimum nationwide and there are relatively few members who live within 50 miles of each other. There are some regional forums on TBN (not used much) which would be a better place to focus a lending program.

Didn't take your idea and change and run to the ground. I asked if the mods would put up a forsale forum so people that had attachemenst and didn't use them they could sell them. I do like your idea of renting or loaning out equipment, but as others stated ,that there are not members are close by to loan equipment.

Logistical issues aside, here is my concern with this kind of program.

Say I hand over the deposit and borrow your box blade. I then proceed to tweak the frame a little bit. The box blade isn't ruined, but it certainly isn't in the condition I borrowed it. I want to be fair and make it right with you, but how much of your deposit do I get back? Do I have to replace the box blade, or can I just try to un-tweak it?

I believe that most of the folks on the board are decent and reasonable and would have no problem coming to an equitable agreement. However, without an effective arbitration mechanism and airtight set of guidlines, I see a lot of opportunity for bad outcomes in this arrangement.

We already know that there are wildly different perspectives on what constitutes tractor care and maintenance. We got some guys who run 'er hard and put 'er away wet and some guys who spend their Sunday afternoons waxing the lugs on their R1s.

Yea not many members that live close to each other, But there is a member that lives 14 miles from me. ...We have been to each others house many of times and helped each other on projects with our tractors, and we have also loaned each other tools & attachments.

We get alone fine even though he has a orange tractor & i have a green one.

The way that we met was i had my tractor on my trailer at a convenience store getting diesel for my truck & tractor, and i was on my way to my dads house.

This member came up to me and ask what my name was and i told him...He said that he has never heard of my name..So he ask what my user-name was on TBN, and i told him and then he remembered seeing my user-name, and then i ask him what his was & how did you know that I was a member... He told me that he seen my TBN bumper sticker on my trailer.

A long ago I was in the market for a mowing tractor. After looking around I came to the conclusion that I needed a mower with a PTO and that meant 'garden tractor' rather than 'lawn tractor'. Well I never got either of them.
Now that I have a CUT with a standard PTO I see how useless and much trouble it would have been. I have no attachments that use the PTO and go to lengths to buy implements that don't need to use them.

That's an easy one. The box blade. It's been a total waste and I'm giving it to my brother now that he's just bought a place. I've learned that I can do more with my loader bucket then I can with the box blade.

Whoah! do I ever disagree. I like the loader for rough grading, then use the box blade to finish the grading. I start out with a steep angle at the top link, and progressively lengthen the top link after every couple passes. By the time I'm done with the box blade, there is very little hand raking to be done.
It was the rear blade that I had no use for. I found the box blade could do everything the rear blade could do, only better.
P.S. I'm not in snow country, so don't write from Minnesota and tell me that I'm wrong, cause I'm not.

When you have a real loader and alot of seat time as Eddie does you would be suprized what you can do. Check out his lake project in the project forums.
