On a good year it is knee high on the 4th of June.

This corn is ~7' on July 10 and in another patch it is ~9'

Dang! Is that the Jose Canseco/ Mark McGwire variety?

Around these parts the old timers always said knee high by the 4th of July was a good crop but with the modern seeds and fertilizers if it's not knee high by the 4th it's a failure.

Nice looking corn. Must not be many squirrels up there.

So that is what a corn patch is suposed to look like.

It may have been the Jolly Green Giant who said that in your neck of the woods.

What part of Wisconsin are you in Duffster? I'm near Wausau, and we're lucky if the core doesn't freeze off by the fourth of June. The really good looking fields around here are maybe waist high right now...

that is old wives tail from around these parts too, knee high that is, there are fields like yours around here too, 6+ feet high but last year we had frost in june, this year the frost was real close as well in june. Tuesday last week I had 48 degrees on the car in the AM and today I had 50 49 degrees at the farm on the car, it usually runs about 2 degrees warmer than the temps I see on the banks and display signs too!

must be all the global warming!

(actually though last weekend there was a special about the SUN SPOTS and or lack there of.) They say they finally are seeing a couple sun spots and have not had any on a good while worth mentioning which is why we have been cool. the sunspots make it HOTTER some how... anyhow that is something to think about with global warming, that the sun has been cooling the last few years yet we are susposed to be warming up.... might just be in trouble some day if Al is right...
