I finished spraying Thompson's Advanced Water Seal on the back fence about 7 a.m. and was already soaked with sweat when I finished. So then I sprayed insecticide on the lawn, around the house, under the eaves, in the garage, in the shop, and in the garden tool shed, then had to wash the outside of the windows to remove the insecticide overspray. I'm ready for Winter!
Yeah! Me too, Bird. I let my JD LA145 mower get a little low on fuel (not empty, but maybe 1/4" in bottom of the tank. The fuel quit pumping and when I refilled it, I could not get it pumping fuel to the engine again. I removed the fuel cap and pressurized the tank by blowing into it. That was enough to make the engine start for a second, but it rapidly died. Repeat this about 4 times and I'm ready to declare the fuel pump bad.
So I pushed the mower into the shade (I'm soaked by now) and began by disconnecting the hose just after the fuel filter. No problem, it poured out. I did the same at the input to the fuel pump (a handy external location) and it was okay too. I removed the output line to the carb and it did not flow. . .for a few seconds. Then it had a steady slow flow from gravity since the tank was full and above that point. I put the hose back on and removed the air filter to make sure nothing was amiss. I put everything back together and gave it a try on the starter. It fired right up. YEA!

I suppose the fuel pump could not clear the air in the line and I allowed it to escape by opening the fuel lines and getting flow.
Just as I finished, Kathy walked up from the garden. She had picked okra (3 15' rows and one 20' row). Like me, she was soaking wet. We both had very little exertion, but anything more than sitting in the shade with a cool drink would probably have produced the same result.
So since we were already soaked, I mowed the lawn and she ran the weedeater. We couldn't get any wetter, so what the heck?

BTW: We are seeing quite a few scorpions lately. We always do after spraying around the fondation and the inside baseboards. All the ones in the house have been dead or dying, but the outside ones are quite lively.

RavensRoost, do you have any scorpions? I bet you have the big ones. Here, over 1-1/2" is big. Mostly, we see little ones/infants.
