JimmyJ...I have also discovered those shirts and they do make a difference. SCDolphin was the one that showed them to me. The only down side to them is...they are much more expensive than the cheapy colored t-stirts, and they don't handle up very well around briars. If you are messing around out in the woods and around briars or other pokey/thorny plants...better put the cotton ones on and save the good ones for more safe adventures. However, if you can get them cheap you can't go wrong.

The misters from Lowe's seems to cool when there is nothing else. It says on the box it can lower temps by 20 degrees, but that would be just a "feels like", not an actual change in temperature as you can see below.

You also need some breeze or the mist will soak you eventually. It's also good not to wear glasses while being misted.

On a scale of one to ten, I would give the mister a seven.

The basic package comes with 5 mist nozzles for about $25. Installation is easy, just hang and connect a garden hose.

I have started to purchase shirts that are made from some sort of moisture wicking fabric. They are commonly used by sportsmen such as runners.

Do you know what brand you are buying or where you get the shirts?

I have two shirts that are supposed to be "cool" but they are both made of polyester and poly ain't cool. One shirt is like a T shirt but it is just HOT. I don't wear it when its hot. Both shirts wick quickly but they are much hotter than cotton.

I am willing to try something else though.

Later,
Dan

I got some at a store called Zellers which you don't have there (sort of like WLMT). The others I got at sports specialty stores that serve runners, one is called the "running room."

(NOTE: I just look through the discount racks and usually buy really ugly ones or at the end of the season. I don't care what they look like so I've got some swanky green and purple ones!)

I know what you mean though, two of the ones I got at Zellers are just crappy and the other two are really good. The good ones were "wilson" brand.

I'll see if I can get more info.

Thanks, Jimmy that gives me enough to work on. The wife and kids were at a sporting goods store yesterday and will be taking some stuff back. I will see if the store has shirts like this and have the wifey get one for me to try out.

Thanks,
Dan

Man I like the hot weather in Mississippi. In fact I am taking off work in the air conditioning at noon today to go hang rafters on my current project.

Forecast today is 105 with the heat index at 110 or more. Get your work done early.

Dan...the ones I have are called "Titanium" made by Columbia Sportswear. I bought them at Dick's. They really are cool to wear compared to cotton. The tag says 100% polyester and made in the sweatshops of Indonesia.

Jimmy...If your shirts don't look cooooool...how can you be cool dude?

I cut the tags off my shirts but I got 3 more yesterday. These are polyester but they're really thin and the loose weave lets the air through. Some others are two materials with one on the inside to "wick" and another on the outside to do whatever it's supposed to do.

Redbug, please note 2 new ones are black and hence very "cool"

(LOL, not like the other one I got that is bright grass green!)
