looking for a good tilt

how much is to much for a good tilt trailer all steel or wood deck what do you look for when you want a trailer or do you just buy off of price alone?
is it worth more to you to buy a trailer with a sealed wiring harness instead of one that uses wire nuts or quick connects? how about paint i see a lot of trailers that the paint is off of in about a year and they still appear to have the mill scale on them witch means they cut cost on prepand so on. also do you look at welds when you are looking to buy or do you trust they are good
the reason that i am asking is because their are so many out their. i got one more 4 you does it make a differance wear it is made at on the vin tag to you as far as your own sence of quality ? i have noticed trailers coming from all over the globe it seems

I look for all the things you mentioned. Good welds, good paint, good wiring, good components, and a decent tires, not Carlisle. Pretty simple stuff. I do not mind buying one that is not up to snuff, I will just fix any issues but the price has to be right. For example, I have bought as many as 10 trailers that I have towed home and had new tires put on the next day, then spend a couple hours fixing the wiring.

My Cam Superliner tilt was a nice trailer. Good thick paint, good wiring, heavy built, Dexter axles, wheels & brakes. No poster sized decals on the sides. Company builds trailers in PA.

Look into them. Here's my 18,900 GVWR trailer.

I thought that's the only way they came? You mean someone uses a single cylinder?

Over here you see a lot of trailers with a single pump/cylinder unit mounted to the towbar, a pimp/cylinder unit as used in Chinese engine shoplifts.
I made my brother one with two cylinders right in front of the tandem, with the hinge right behind the tandem. This way they allways put an even load to the bed frame, not to the towbar.

I wouldn't want a 1 cylinder tilt, although my 4800 is a single ram rated at 30 tons. lol

i think tht they use one because of price i am not sure but their is no way the bed could be as stable as a twin

Builder, are those 8K axles with 17.5 rims/tires on your Superline? If so they must be figuring 2,900 lbs of the total GVW is allocated to the hitch.

I would like to get a trailer set up like that with 8K axles but rated at 16K total. Did you purchase the CAM Superline new from a dealer in PA? If so, can you recommend a dealer in eastern or central PA?

The advantages of a tilt for loading are obvious. I was wondering what the disadvantages, if any, might be over a fixed deck. I would think the tilt would weigh a little more and cost more and a few more things to go wrong, maintain and rattle over lifetime. What are the advantages/disadvantages of a split tilt versus a full tilt? Differnet load angle, cost?

The paint looks like it has a lot of runs in it, especailly in the last picture. How has the paint held up?
