Complete newbie What Kubota for 3.1 acres

Two years ago we moved to 3.1 heavily wooded acres with a small creek. I bought a zero turn which works great for the 2/3 acre of fenced yard of st. augustine grass, but the front acreage is full of many many trees and lots of brush around the creek. I have a small well built bridge that handle my 600 lb. zero turn 52 inch lawnmower. The Zero turn is getting beat up by the front acreage as it is more pasture than anything else. Bumpy and tough to cut.

I need a bush hog for cutting the tough stuff and brush, and an FEL to move dirt rocks etc. to help work on erosion around the creek.

I was thinking the BX1750/2350 size. What do y'all think?

I would think that a BX would be about right. I have been using a BX2200 on 4 acres for the past 7 years. Good luck.

I'v never heard of a BX 1750
Just BX 1500 and 1830 1850 and 1860.

Another vote for the BX. I have a comparable property, and it's served me well. There have been times that I needed a larger tractor, but the sizes that I would have needed at those times were much larger than the BX. The BX is a good around-the-house tractor for people who have more than just a 1/4 acre of grass to cut.

If you're up for the extra cost, I recommend getting the backhoe. It's unbelievably handy.

Either a B or BX will do what you need done. If you need ground clearance a B will work better. Your best decision is going to depend on a lot of variables including how much you want to or are willing to pay and as has been mentioned by JohnThomas and others as to what a machine's primary purpose will be.

I did a LOT of research and when I went to the dealer I was going to buy a B2920. After checking them all out and some more research and additional trips to dealers, I decided the BX2660 was the right one. A different BX would have done the work, but the BX2660 was the most comfortable.

Good luck with your choice and don't get in a hurry to buy one.

Number of acres isn't really much of an issue. It's all about your use. The BX or B seem appropriate and the big difference is ground clearance and time. The biggest B is a bit bigger than the biggest BX so can work some what faster, better traction and bigger bucket. Again, I believe ground clearance is what should be your biggest deciding factor. If your buying used then I guess money is also on the table with finding the right machine for the right price. Other wise ground clearance. Did I mention ground clearance?

Are you sold on Kubota? If that's what you want, then that's great. But there are some very good deals out there on Bobcats and Mahindras. With those, you can probably get at least a B sized tractor for the price of a Kubota BX. Just a thought that I think you should look into. Good luck with your decision!

I may be biased but it sure sounds like you'd be better off with a bigger B.
