Not looking like many if any former FT dealers are going with LS, or if they are they arent talking, 6 months ago you could get everything from good info to wild conspiracy theories to some sort of coded messages that the average person could not understand, I guess this farmtrac thing has about run its course. I hope LS can make a go of it over here although they could'nt have come at a worse time, with the economy the way it is. I really like my LS made FT and who knows maybe they will be sucessful over here in these trying times and if so that means parts and support for our tractors

I drove past my FT dealer the other day. He still has a couple FT's along with some green and red tractors. The green are not JD. It makes for a very colorful lot.

I too would like to see LS/LG make it work. The thing that scares me about that is their website. They call the model that equates to my FarmTrac the "Happy little workhose" or something along those lines. It's like reading a badly translated manual, kind of funny and sad at the same time.

Two letter problem. GE

Dark Gable, errr Shadow!
You're a welcome post for sore eyes...

Yes, you're right about General Electric Financing. Reports from multiple persons who've read the agreement with a magnifying glass are that it is more harsh, lopsided and perilous than the self-serving contract Textron Financial (or whomever they're called now) used to cripple or bankrupt a large lot of the 250-plus former Farmtrac dealers.

Sign up with LS (and GE)? You're kidding me.
Nothing like jumping from the frying pan straight into the fire!

Oh Dark One, doesn't it sound like some folks have a short memory?

So what's the solution?
To coalese!

Tractor retailers need to collectively bargain with manufacturers for more even-handed dealer financing terms.

Remember this readers: You're not selling 3x5 inch USPS-deliverable widgets that can be sold on line for a couple dollars by any keyplunker with Cheeto-stained fingers. You're selling large sized, significant cost durable goods that require an on-the-grounds dealership and service department.

Your facilities and services are critical components to the sale of your tractor product! Without you, the hometown retailer, *there is no tractor industry.*

So in he words of one mountainous Motown momma....
"Respect yourself!"

I agree with you Blueliner. If LS wants to make it they need to do their own dealer financing. Last I knew big green, red, and orange did their own. TYM has done their own for about a year and I hear its working good. From what little financing I have done with big G_ has NOT impressed me.

Blue, rumor is that the dealers now have access to certain computer hard drives from the Tarboro area. What have you heard about this?

Could you blame them?

Nothing like getting stung by the effects of a lopsided contract.
Like in Baba O'Reilly... "we won't get fooled again."

6 months ago you could get everything from...
good info

plenty of it, especially if one asked the right questions and pieced things together

to wild conspiracy theories
just wait, partner. think back a year or so ago... theories and suggestions that were then thought to be "wild," are proving to be substancial.

to some sort of coded messages that the average person could not understand,
You're referring to RedNeckFord. Jargon? Yes. Don't be foolish into discounting Dude's talent and experience. RNF has razor sharp intellect.

I guess this farmtrac thing has about run its course.
Don't believe it. Perhaps the pace has slowed and stuff that's happening is less salient. But this battle is far from over.

I hope LS can make a go of it over here
I hope they can would follow through with their original promises, then offer a lopsided financing contract where dealers take all the risk and *maybe* get a few crumbs back.

Dark,
I know little except one thing: I told dealers to subpeona these items *more than a year* ago. While some thought I was nuts, a couple gave me the shuffle then effectively red herring-ed much of the group.

Don't forget this... when it comes to criminalistics you can run but you can't hide. Such stuff will inevitably come out.

Right on !!Blue, apparently some would be content to let the perps who are responsible for the farmtrac scam walk scot free. not so on this front, only now we keep it to ourself unless they are wearing a badge.some people really do look good in stripes.:D;)
