4520 hydraulics

Just where is this return line and filter? Does the 4520 have the same line?

Look in the picture I posted above...That is the filter. Do you have a manual?

I have 106 hours on my 4520 cab as of tonight - no hydraulic problems. I don't have power beyond - only the FEL and rear valve.

I got the tractor back from dealer today, they found two lose fittings in the power steering system that were leaking air in! Also the relief valve was opening to early on the 3 pt., so I could not get the full lift pressure. They also found that when raising the 3 pt to the full up it was hitting the backhoe tractor mounts, thus not letting the arms come all the way and making a lot of noise.

Now to go try it myself and see if it's really fixed.

Finally the steering problem has been identified and fixed!! They found the fitting on the left side of the power steering ram was leaking air into the system without leaking any fluid out. On two occasions the fitting was tightened only to undo itself (about a half a turn on the fitting) at a later time. They also found that when Deer put steering system together they had a twist in the faulty line, thus as the tractor was working this line/fitting would loosen just enough to let air in the system. The repair was to straighten the line out and replace the o-rings on the affected fitting.

Results are a steering system that does not lose power anymore and is now very quiet as well. To bad it took two years to find it only!!!
