Value of 130 More Hours on a Used Tractor

Very poor policy to buy something of major value without inspecting it first. Instead of argueing if your not happy, return it, swallow the shipping costs, and place it in your experience box. Obviously your a price shopper and this is one of the hazzards. I pay a little more, buy locally, and when there is a problem it is resolved. Age does come with some qualifing moments in past history that rings your bell.
Even if you settle with the dealer your never going to be happy with this machine because future problems will only kindle the past flames. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Don't buy much used machinery do you?

I was going to say the same thing.

He seems fine with the machine - inspection would not have changed much except he woudl have known the hours.

The dealer should have stated the hours correctly.

What could have happened is it was out on a job and they didn't know the current hours but the last known hours and well...they screwed up. They should make it right.

Any progress with the dealer?

D.

Deere dealer did not knowinly lie or mislead....the Deere guy who runs Used Farm & Agricultural Equipment - John Deere MachineFinder made the mistake. I feel it is OK to buy used if hours are low and it is a genuine Deere dealer.

Dealer has offered $350 of filters, but we are first going to contact Deere corporate to see what they might do since it was neither a dealer screw up or my fault. Hopefully they will do something since they made the mistake.

Good luck to both of you on that. Even the bargain rags are smart enough to print a disclaimer holding them harmless from typo's and other factual errors.

The hours is a mistake on the dealers part since you did not see the tractor. Buying without seeing the product is not that uncommon in the ag world. I wouldn't do it but some farmers I know do it. Friend of mine bought a used 24 row planter from a JD dealer from 2 states away. Over $100,000. Had it shipped from the dealer. When he got it there was a bend/bow in the tool bar and it would not fold out properly. The dealer did not know it had a problem. They apologized and took it back. They paid for shipping both ways. That dealer did the right thing.
130 hours is minor in the life of the tractor but I hope the dealer will make adequate compensation.
