I put one in at my cabin use plastic bruiser tank put an effluent filter in the discharge it will keep sludge out of field.
As every one else said keep it field level.

Install more clean outs / vents than you think you will need.

+1

Around here you cant even think about installing your own, and thats a good thing. THeres more to it then digging a hole and putting in a tank.

When your waste can run into MY drinking water, then you better believe its a big deal and it better be done by the book.
That's what they want ya to think.

I guess your tractor is going to try and drag the 1000 gallon concrete tank into place? It's not going to lift it. When we put our system in I rented a Ford 555 and the 500 gallon tank was a good load for it. Plus its careful work setting because the BH is right on the edge of the hole to drop the tanks in. The lighter option were flberglass tanks, about $50 more each. We set the system like you are "supposed" to. Two (2) 500 gallon tanks, 120' 10" black pipe field line. No rock or hay needed with this pipe. Perk test showed a hole the size of the BH bucket half filled would drain in about 5 minutes. Mostly sandy soil on top of clay. The house size is is a 3 bedroom 2 bath. Never had to pump it yet but it's only a weekend place. The tanks are only 10 feet from the house and the main drain only makes 2 turns. One down from the second story and the second turn from straight down to the tank. The downstairs head is only 15' from the main tank! I haven't had any problems with drainage!

1*I guess your tractor is going to try and drag the 1000 gallon concrete tank into place? It's not going to lift it.

1*Why didn't youu simply let the truck that delivered the tank set it ?
2*He don't need a tractor the delivery truck will set the tank!

i realized that there was no "leachfield"
1*Here in Maine, each system has to be designed by a licensed site evaluator, controlled by the state.
i realized that there was no "leachfield" There was just a daylight pipe for effluent after the tank over at the corner of the lot. This system works in that there is no leach field to clog up and back up into your house
2*but its not right.
I don't have a leach field or leach bed here either.
Nothing wrong with that.
1*Then your system should be fine since the state approved it.
2*How can it meet state code and still be wrong?

I was at the big blue box store the other night picking up some new LM blades and when I dove in the parking lot they had about 15 pre-made plastic septic systems setting in the parking lot. Which is new to this store. You may want to take a look for them at your local store. They were made as 1 big tank that had 2 compartments divide inside. It looked like it would be easy to install, dig a big hole, set tank in it, connect the pipes. I did not ask about the price and I dont know how reliable/good this type system is but it looked easy to install.

Some of the plastic tanks require that they be filled with water before you can backfill them. The local guys that sold both talked me into concrete, they were about the same cost several years ago. The box company truck dropped in into the hole and made sure it was level. I was going to put a zabo filter on, but the box already came with a plastic insert to prevent solids from getting into the leach field. As many others stated, I went with the Infiltrator chambers. Me and my 10 year old put them in by ourselves. Sadly no pics available from that job...

Here in Alaska as in Maine and many other places, we have, to have a state licenced engineer design the system according to location ground type and perk test. I used a concrete tanks and a bed system on mine. I used a buddies track hoe because of the depth of the system my CUT would have taken for ever:eek:

I'm going to guess the tank is so deep to keep it below the frost line?
I think the top of mine is about 12" below the surface.
