We know!LOL :D

Same story, different year.:D

In all actuality you have plenty of truck. Get a 16' or longer landscape or car haul trailer. The landscape style is very handy for all types of task. Mine is 18' by 82" between the fenders and handles my 5,200# tractor fine. I have also hauled all types of vehicles including my fathers Corvettes and as large as a friends Suburban. As for brakes, the second axle is usually very cheap to add, around $135 from the dealers I go through. The first axle is around $250 for the brakes, wiring, plug, and break-away and battery.

Judging by your screen name I am guessing you are in Alabama. Visit there often for work. Plenty hot. Really though if you would like some info on trailer manufactures I can put you in touch with some in South Eastern Missouri if its not to far for you to drive. You will save a ton by buying directly from them.

Actually I am in TN, but grew up in North Alabama. Hence, BAMA and drive a Dodge CTD. Updated the profile.

Thanks for the info, though, MO to far too drive.

I will be your way next week. Driving down to Lafallotte to stay a week at Lake Norris this coming Sunday.

Like Builder said, some brands really have fallen off on quality. I would have recommended Gator Made just up 75 in Somerset Kentucky but the last guy that bought one on this site had poor paint and wiring. They were very good in the past but I imagine they have cheapened them up due to the economy and and rise in cost of materials. You still may want to take a look but make sure you look it over with a fine tooth comb before you accept any trailer of any brand.

I've been through this exact thing and have posted about it...hopefully others don't groan at my offering a post...

I pull a 10k# capacity 20' dovetail (18' deck) with my tow-package equipped Ford Expedition (1/2 ton SUV) rated for 9k#. I've loaded it to within 100# of my GCVWR of 14,800# and it pulls great!

I was between the 16' and 20' and with only $200 between the two models, I opted to purchase the extra 4 feet. Funny thing is the axles stayed in the exact same position relative to the rear of the trailer for the 20', so I have to be VERY careful to "load to the wheels" or I overload the tongue. Very easy to do. But that extra 4 feet gives me a TREMENDOUS amount of extra space to haul gear and implements.

Examples:

My BX2230 (same as yours, essentially) with Woods BH attached, takes up some 15' of the 18' flat deck when in transport. With the extra 3', I can carry my box blade, PHD, or any other items. When taking my tractor for service, I carry my bagger. 16' trailer would have been a tight fit.

Just this week, I've taken to transporting/fixing cars for my church mission...vehicles for Afghan refugee families. I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima on there now and it would have been a VERY tight fit on a 16' trailer. When I purchased, I had very little intent of putting hundreds of miles on my trailer transporting random cars and SUVs around. But I'm glad I can!!!

I do have a point, and it is this: Buy one trailer. Your tractor sans BH may not ALWAYS be the ONLY thing you EVER transport. Obviously, my 10k# trailer is overkill (paid $2,500 new off the lot...what'cha gonna do), but I would strongly suggest at the absolute very least a 16' or 18' 7,000# landscape-type trailer with brakes on at least one axle...preferably both.

It just stinks to buy...and then buy again.

Sounds cool. Will it have a special "LBrown" section with his current tractor inventory, hours, fuel rigs, trailer/truck desires, and perhaps even links to his 9 pictures? It'd sure save him a lot of time. 96% of his posts could simply be reduced to "See this link:". Maybe even reduce his recent affinity for huge spinning/winking smiley faces.

If you need help, I'll recite all of the above to you from memory.

To the point, though, I actually don't mind re-writing the same recommendation to new threads. Experiences in the past week have re-affirmed and strengthened my feeling that a longer trailer is very, very useful.

Irritating isn't it
No bells and whistles
Just simple language would suffice
