Thanks for the ideas guys.

It does have a good fuel flow to the carb, and I submersed the float in water and no leaks evident.

I shall get a load of carb cleaner as advised, Im guessing the steel wool idea will be my first task though, As I said the needle doesn always drop when I move the float up and down manually.

Ill let you know the outcome.

OK

I had some time to work on the Jube this weekend. Cleaned the carb right out, the needle now drops everytime manually, ran her for 10 mins just fine. Parked her up and checked the carb for leaks every hour, 4 hours later she started to leak again!! Its not much but still something aint right.

Any ideas? Might I need to bend the float down a little?

Have you got a brass needle or the viton needle?

Might need to polish the needle and seat if brass.. iv'e done this with a lil rubbing compound.. or valv egrind compound and fir the needle to the seat... viton needles sometimes need to be tapped a little into the seat to make a good fit.. if the seat is pitted or otherwise damaged.. repalce it.

also.. should be no loak after shutdown as you turn the fuel off!!!

float should be 1/4".. I use a drill bit stem as a measuring device.

The carb I rebuilt leaked for some time afterwards, but the tractor ran fine. I used the tank shut off after each use for a few weeks and then forgot one time, but it did not leak that time. It apparently was a little crud in there that worked it's way out, as I haven't had to use the shut off in a couple years and it does not leak.

Cleaned needle and seat AGAIN still no change so put in new ones, runs for 5 mins then quits!? Float chamber is full when I take carb apart!? DOe s that point to a stuck jet or something?

Would a hole in the float lead it to stall? When shaken there is no fuel inside.

I was told today it could be a bad coil? i figured with it flooding before the new needle and seat it was fuel related.
