Yup, just anxious to get the pile of logs done and stacked before the winter hit's....:D

But I looked arround and as others have said, Ram Splitters are the best out there currently going for 3pt's. It's an ergonomic thing that I like. No standing over a wheel... or motor in the way... or too close to the rear wheels of the tractor... All good points so you don't have split loggs poping you in the shin or landing on your toe...

I'm just waiting. Like a kid looking forward to a birthday... and not quite understanding why it's not "That day" yet.... he he he:p:p:D

Cheers Mike :D

Just an Update!

IT ARRIVED YESTERDAY!! WOOOT! Ok so I went to the loading dock in town and picked it up rather than dealing with waiting for the "Delivery".... they would never find my place in an 18wheeler.... (Scared to drive the main road due to "Narrowness")

So they loaded it in the back of my truck and I offloaded it with a chain and some straps with my FEL.

I unpacked the unit, assebled the pump/hoses, had to make some adjustments to the tractor to facilitate the pump location (PTO shield in the way), install the chain (rotation lock to hold the pump in place) and fill the tank with Hydo fluid and check all the connections for tightness then prime the pump and system. BINGO ! Working order!

I split 3.5 cords of wood in a little over 4.5 hrs running it just above idle speed. I took a break for lunch and to go to take a load to the recycle place/dump, just to rest my back as loading 100+lb rounds is back breaking work... but not as much as Splitting all that wood!

Man I should have purchased this baby YEARS ago!!!! I love having my tractor and all these great labor saving atatchements that it supports.

PS Thanks Mike for all your help, patience and please thank Ramsplitter for an absolutly AWSOME Product!

Mine looks just like this (same orange) but the pump is Yellow not grey.

I have the 3 pt hydraulic 16 ton Ramsplitter myself and am extremely happy with its performance. Probably not as fast a a stand alone gas unit, but it is perfect for my pace and one less small engine to maintain. Paint color matched for my tractor and custom hoses from Doug. Very accomodating and easy to deal with. IMO a steal for the money.

Good luck.

I ordered the 3PT 16ton horizontal unit with PTO pump and 4-way wedge for my Kubota BX2230 in August 2009, for $1270. Having read the standalone vs. 3PT splitter debate, I settled on a 3PT unit due to its smaller footprint in my garage and one less engine to maintain. I went with the PTO pump due to slow cycle times posted by others on this forum.

The unit took longer to arrive than promised, almost 1 month, and shipped with some missing fittings. The delay was apparently due to the PTO pump, as another poster indicated. When I tried to install it, it didn't fit since the beam protruded too far into the tractor. I tried calling two times and didn't have my calls returned, so I took the unit to a welder and had it modified. The pins were moved out 9" towards the head of the beam.

That cost me an extra $150, and once it was installed and working I got a hold of Doug and asked for the modification expenses to be reimbursed. He figured out that I had mistakenly been shipped a 20ton unit, hence why it didn't fit the tractor. He was not keen on refunding me the $150 since he was already below cost on the 20ton unit. Having indicated that I did order a 16 ton unit since I thought it would meet my needs, I didn't push the matter any further.

In the end, I'm pleased with the splitter and may be benefiting from the increased capacity. It has split everything I have, included knotty 20-24" beech. Cycle time is around 10 seconds at low RPM, and the splitter goes on/off easily due to the length of the PTO pump hoses. It cost more than a standalone splitter would have, but it works better than a rental unit I've used before and takes less space when stored. I just wish that buying it and getting started would have been more straightforward.

It seems like about 5-7% of the time the PTO version splitters do not match up perfectly with some tractors with out some sort of modification having to be done, especially for the smaller tractors. I am glad to see you got your splitter up and running, great machines. BTW $1270 is a fantastic price for a 16-Ton PTO version. If you got a 20-Ton that is a steal even with having to pay $150 extra.

I purchased a Ramsplitter 3 pt. splitter on ebay March 23rd. I got an email from Doug right away that he wanted paypal, to know what color, and shipping information. I paid for the splitter, and replied with my shipping info and that I would like to know estimated delivery. Then I didn't hear anything else. So I sent an email that said that it seemed like an expensive purchase to get no communications on. He replied a few days later that he thought it would ship last wednesday. Until today I have heard nothing. I sent an email last Friday that I was wondering about delivery but have gotten no reply. I called today and got voicemail. Will have to wait and see how it shakes out.
