I think you better be careful looking up internet info or looking at self-serving home web pages that tend to inflate the home team. :) It all depends on just how you word the question.....

I am not sure what your point is, so I will just ask. What is your point?

At one time New Holland mad the cabs & controls for the Cat tractors, which Agco now makes for Cat. I haven't kept up, but at one time all 3 companies were involved in those machines, anyhow for a year and now for parts support still.

I forget which way it went, but John Deere (or Case?) bought out a self propelled sprayer maker, and to fullfill the contracts in place, had to ship them for a year or 2 with Case (or JD, if it's the other way engines in them.

Ah, parts support has to be interesting.

Agco is big worldwide.

Fent is big worldwide.

Fiat is really big - they own both Case and New Holland.

That didn't even answer my question which you quoted in your answer.

Its' REALLY REALLY simple. EVERY brand has some sort of claim to their supposed superiority. Most skew "statistics" to to validate their point. I'd look for an independent over-view by a neutral 3rd party. I'm thinking "Rambler" has been around the block a time or two and has little regard for the propaganda handed out by most marketing departments.

Just because you read it on the internet, it's not always the truth.

As an example, I've seen evidence posted from various dealers and manufacturers who claim THEIR product is #1 in sales. And 5 minutes later, read ANOTHER brand who makes the same identical claim and has their irrefutable evidence to go with their claims. Most info on "who's biggest" will include everything from their financing dept, to licensed toys, lawn & garden equipment, construction equipment, ect......

And in the end, does it even matter to those of us who USE these products as to who's "biggest"? It sure doesn't to me.

Deere actually breaks the numbers down into 3 divisions, Ag, Consumer (lawn care), and forestery/construction. The numbers in the article I sent I believe to be just ag world wide.

Deere and CNH have a tendency to (purposely?) disguise their numbers in such a way as to make it virtually impossible to know EXACTLY what they're reporting. Since many of their dealers sell full lines, and there's substancial product overlap between specialty lines, it's a little muddy when it comes to what equipment goes where. (ie AG, forestry, construction, "turf" products (read GOLF COURSE EQUIPMENT) consumer products, financial services, ect)

I've had more than one "industry insider" tell me that NO ONE has accurate numbers on their competition. That tells me the numbers being reported publicly are't 100% accurate.

With JD @ ~$7.5 billion, CNH @~$4.5 billion, and AGCO @$2,5 billion it would be hard to scew the numbers enough for those three companies not to be in that order of 1,2,3 which was the whole point of this thread.

Those numbers for Deere are similliar to what I read in a release from Deere too.

Good Afternoon Duffster,
I wont argue with those figures, give or take a few million in one direction or the other, and in the context of this thread, I guess it is pertinent, at least in the eyes of the OP but....

And in the end, does it even matter to those of us who USE these products as to who's "biggest"? It sure doesn't to me.

Good Afternoon Bill,
Amen..... I would think it would be enough to the people that own this equipment, that they own some of the best equipment available..... of course thats just me !

Unless you're reading some sort of subliminal message not available to the rest of us, "the whole point of this thread" was/is to determine who is #3 and who is #5 on the list, NOT who is #1, and/or #2. (Re-read post #1) Let's not start making up things as we go along. Stick with facts. Don't invent an answer and then make up a question that fits YOUR answer.

Even at that, with an unknown in TWO spots in this top five, and the numbers associated with those 2 others aren't available as of now, it's entirely possible that AGCO could possibly fit in EITHER slot. And THAT question, the one asked by the O.P., still remains at this juncture. Your "I think, therefore I know" logic has a GIANT flaw.

There is a strong likelyhood that AGCO is #3, but until such a time as hard evidence is prsented, it's just a guess on the part of ALL of us.

While those numbers MAY be accurate, they're just as likely skewed to a degree. (not scew, which isn't even a real word, with the possible exception of those appearing in your subliminal messages)

Ever hear the old saying; "Figures lie because liars figure"?

The relative size of any of these manufacturers, by any measure, has little or nothing to do with the viability of the entity or quality or usefulness of any of their products related to others. What order they are listed in matters not a bit to me.
