what surprises me the most about this thread is that Ruston LA has a hotel that has a covered valet parking area. I thought the only thing Ruston had was a Great Tech college and a McDonalds. . . man they are really growing up there

Its not overloaded, just improperly loaded. He need to get the tractor all the way forward and use some decent chains and binders along with a WD trailer hitch and some working trailer brakes.

If it's a 7K trailer, the rear axle is probably overloaded.

Looking at these pictures I can tell you that this guy has his tractor tied down better than most in Mississippi. I can't tell you how many times I have actually heard people say "The parking brake will be fine if you aren't going very far."

Not that it makes a difference. Not the type of rig I'd spend too much time beside or behind.

Come to think of it, why doesn't he just flip the drop hitch over? That'd solve some major problems right there.

I would say at least he had lights and saftey chains?

I have seen much worse in IL and on the roads around this great country. Like many others I am always looking how others tie/haul there equipment especially my insureds/clients. My biggest beef is the landscapers that put up the tailgate on the trailer and call it good (no straps or chains). I try to shame and/or scare them into doing the right thing.

I looked under it and it had no brake drums on either axle and I also looked in the truck and no controller. It also did not have a break away battery or lanyard. I am guessing he just put on a 7 pin connector because I have found them to be cheaper than a 4 to 7 adapter. I can get them for $6 while a adapter usually runs $13.

You are right though, just flip the ball and all would be much better.
