Well, I have a ford and my husband kept it purring for years but now he has decided to up and die on me leaving me this beast of a machine and I do love it.

Hey that was pretty decent of you SunnyJim to stop and help him out! You earned a Gold star for the day..Not redeemable in any tractor store though:)

SunnyJim helped her out. :D:D:D

That was great what he done!!! :)

Tractor Killer, the first house I ever bought was in Chesapeake in the Deep Creek township not far from the inter-coastal waterway. I remember spending a lot of time in Great Bridge also.

That was back in the early 70s during the gasoline shortage. I remember driving 19 miles to NC to buy gasoline one day and found out NC was limiting purchases to 5 gal. By the time I got back home, I'd burned 3 gallons. So, I drove and waited in line for about 2-1/2 hr just to get 2 gallons of gas to the good. Those were some desperate times.

In 2005 I was there and drove by my old house. It was virtually unchanged except for lots of trees cut out of the yard.

Not really. It does need a new gear box and I have tried to take the bolts off...and well..it is like a fish swimming up stream. I just don't have the strength or the right tools so I just don't know what to do. Nobody around here works on them.. So how to people get bush hogs home? What am I missing here.

It's been 3 years since I was last in the area, but at that time there used to be a JD Dealer on the corner of Dominion Blvd, and Great Bridge Blvd, as well as a Kubota/NH Dealer on Military Highway in Chesapeake. You might want to try and contact one of them.

We used to live off of Great Bridge Blvd ago when I was in the Navy, and my Daughter and SIL still live in the Deep Creek area.

Best of luck!

Stu

TK, you either have to have a trailer and truck to haul the cutter home or get somebody else to do it. There are major dealers who have delivery trucks, but their cutters may be more expensive. If you buy one at a cheaper place like TSC, then you'll have to find and pay someone to pick it up and deliver it. That's also costly. I think most of the TBN folks here either have a trailer or access to somebody who has one. Unless you find a friend with a truck and trailer, I think you are going to need to start looking for someone to do the job for you. A roll back wrecker might be the best place to start. I'd check with a wrecker service to see if they would haul it and unload it for you at a reasonable price.
