I am curious.... Being from Maine and being a pilot, where do you live and what is the name of the guy?
Realize zoing is a local issue and thus vaires a lot, but as his airport would affect the height of anything you might want to build and such it would seem zoning should come into play. Hard to do anything with rude people.

This is interesting...
Similar but different: In our neck of the woods - a pilot builds an airstrip on his land but it crosses a public road ROW now causing the use of public road to cease function as such. He also changed a water course and threaten individuals using the public ROW. He also barricaded the road so said public could not see what he is up to.
The building of said air strip is under federal aviation laws not provincial (or state per USA).
Also the strip is built up about 8' above grade or level of he road. We are talking a lot of material to remove....
I wonder what the out come will be?

PS: I have an instructor that lives 1/4 mile from me but flies his plane from a runway a long distance from me - but uses this area as a flight path... during the summer almost daily. I often wonder who is mowing in the area but look up to see he planes.
