How many of NH's Boomer 8N retro rides will actually be used for work around owner's properties; or will they be yuppie collector items and trailer queens whose most demanding tasks will be pulling floats in local parades?
I'm not criticizing the robustness of the new 8N; but I'm just wondering what the target buyer is.

Me too.
In my imaginary dream world, a tribute tractor for 8N might have been truer to the original, in that its size would be reflective and its hp and other aspects, truer to the original. Just my opinion, which NH doesn't care about much.
The Boomer tribute is about twice the size, in almost every aspect, as the original object of its affection. At $30-40K, that puts it at twice the price, as well, (roughly adjusted for today's dollars)
Had it been 22 hp, roughly the size of a Kubota B, and priced at say $15K, I think I would looked hard and long at it.

Well said. If NH was targeting the original audiance of 8N's, the thousands and thousands of 8N owners of the 40s, 50s and 60s, they would have kept the horsepower and price closer to the original. Someone mentioned earlier that most common folk couldn't afford this tractor and I agree. It would be nice to have but wanting in one hand and needing in the other...
I like my baby bota just fine.

I did a search and came up with some other tractor pic's I thought I'd post, some are from 2001... but they DID have tractors back then you know!
The 1470 is what I spent many a day on doing Summer fallow.. with a Rod Weeder.. THAT was a joy
Talk about tractor saftey police, 2nd is my father with my son driving.. must have forgot the ROPS and seatbelts on the fender?
3rd is a John Deere tractor made from round bails we saw on a trip back to ND.. don't know who made it but it's cool.. think it's 100 horse?
4th is Me and my two (much larger boys now) on the case-o-matic..

I love the pics of the old case tractors. When my family farmed we had mostly case tractors. We had one similler in design to the first pic but it was newer. It was a 2470 and it was great in the mud. if we did manage to get it stuck we would just pull the hitch pin and the machine would would work it self out.

Hey Rob,
YES... we had a 2470 also. While I was in the 1470(in pic), sweating my b*&# off, My Father would be in the 2470 in AC comfort!! hehehe. I was chisel plowing one spring and got the 2470 stuck in mud.. I of coarse rocked it back and forth with the chisel plow still attached and sunk it up to the frame... I had to walk home about 2 miles.. the old man and I go back to the sene of the crime and he has it out of the mud in about 5min's by unhooking and then pullinng the imiplement out with a chain... He just shot me a sideways glance and said get this field done before you come home.. WITH THE TRACTOR!! hehe.
When I think of my time on the farm I recall I hated it at that time.. away from buddies and girls!!... now I look back and I would not trade it for the world! Wish my kids could "suffer" like I did as a child.

I think the target consumer for that tractor would guys that farm for a living just like the original. I don't think there are too many real farmers that have a use for a 22hp tractor out in the field. That said I think they could sell a lot of them if they built a smaller model like you suggested.
