tooth bar

I have a toothbar and I love it but I do take it off for winter. It is a hindrance to snow removal and there ain't no digging to be done in Maine for 4-5 months out of the year when everything is frozen.

I bought a toothbar for my first tractor 6 years ago. I bought it because of the bar the teeth were attached to, I thought I might wear out the edge of the bucket and the extra bar would save it's life.:) I did find it to be of some value in popping smaller rocks up but otherwise it was of no value to me. It bolted on the side of the bucket and was pretty heavy. It wasn't an easy off and on. I did take it off and sold/traded it to my neighbor who has never installed it on his tractor. Have never bought another one for the next 4 tractors with fels. I do now have the ratchet rake which can be taken off and put back on in one or two minutes by myself with no strain and no tools. The ratchet rake, for me, does what the toothbar did plus much much more, for me. The toothbars are heavier duty but the FEL's on the smaller tractors don't have the power to require something as heavy duty as the toothbar, in my opinion.

thank-you johnnylight, the plate is on the to do list with a plate across the top with hooks on it,modifying my 5ft dozerblade for the craftsman garden tractor to fit off the buckit,(for snow) and a hitch off the boxblade to pull my two 17cu ft wagons.( nothing fancy needed for that)

johnthomas,i look at the rachitrake before i order the tooth bar and it problie would of worked for what i needed but ended up with the tooth bar.
the ratchet rake i feel would of kept getting hung up in the trees piles or would dig up the ground when i pick-up a rootball with the part teeth that hangs on the bottom side. now i could be wrong never, used one but the way it looks it would do that. plus my teeth can be replace if i break one.
it only took me 10 min's to install the bar and with air tools it only take 2-3 min's to zip it off and back on.mine will be removed if needing a smooth buckit and for winter.
with a chain pulling the trees out i would get 6-10 cut up in a day,the first day with the toothbar i did 18,so it help me out alot sence i had almost 600 trees.piled up around my place.
here are some pic's of one fence line i got cleaned up. i still have the fence to put up but all the post ecept the corner post are up.
just like any tool, they both have a time and a place to be used. i my opinion

tubzz,
Thank you, thank you, thank you--- Great pictures! I have been trying to decide wether or not to get a tooth bar. I also have fence line and much smaller cedars to clear. I have been looking at one from a company named Markham. It looks identical to yours. Guess I will order it next week. Also, love your gun rack! how about a close up picture of it!
