Water in hydro fluid....made a dumb mistake.

maybe even do a flush with diesel.

Personally I would NOT do that. Do you know for a fact diesel fuel will not attack seals and other soft parts? Diesel can be pretty agressive softening stuff not designed to withstand it. That is my opinion, but it isn't my tractor:cool:

Most definitely! Aside from probable seal damage throughout the system, how would diesel remove water? Alcohol, yes; diesel????

I wouldn't flush it with diesel either. Then how do you get all the diesel out. Drain it and replace it, then watch it. If it gets milky, flush it again. If it doesn't, leave it alone.

Mine turned up milky once and I have no idea how. Pretty sure it was clean when I got it used. Stays inside, doesn't like the rain, gets washed once a year. One flush with new oil and filters and it has been clear for 2 years.

Don't feel bad. I blew a hose and lost quite a bit of fluid on my last tractor (DX33). Pulled the plug, put the funnel in and realized I didn't have any fluid in the shop. While running to get hydro fluid we had a freak thunderstorm pop up.
Needless to say it poured for 30 minutes with my funnel in the plug hole.
Flushed all the fluid, changed filters, and all was good.
Don't take the plug out and stick the funnel in till you have all the fluid on hand and ready to pour.

I also do this kind of stuff in side in stead of out side .

Perhaps you should quit while you're ahead. Your first post was less than helpful to Mega Me and this post isn't any better. Most people do not need to be told what they should have done, that's obvious.

I plan to now go ahead and change the hydro fluid/filters just to be on the safe side.

Should I do/be concered about anything else?
No. Just make sure to run it awhile 1st to pick up any water into the fluid or filter so it comes out with the drain. Best to do it at no load - - like jack up the rears and let them spin free. Save the fluid. Water should settle out and you can use it for the front differential or some other less demanding area than the hydro.

If he just got water and dirt in it I'd save it for sure, the dirt can be filtered out and the water can maybe settle out or be cooked out. But he used a degreaser:eek:
No way of knowing what that might do long term, so if it was me it would become some source of heat, ie burned in some fashion, or taken to the recycle center.

I sure would not use it in the tractor.

I left my tractor outside for quite some time, as I sometimes do, and one day noticed the hydro dipstick was laying on the rear linkage, as if it had just popped out on its own(?) I then used the tractor for a while before I realized it had been a while since the last time, and therefore may have collected water.

Anyway, I ran the system up to temp, drained, and refilled. Then I repeated the process. So, two fluid and filter changes in a single day.

A few TBN'ers had recommended the dual flush. I don't really know if a single flush would've gotten it all out, but peace of mind was what I was after.
