What makes more sense? A new kubota grand L3940 GST with loader or a new TYM 433 with loader AND cab, both can be had for the same price. This new tractor decision is so confusing.

I would get the TYM tractor. How many people say "I wish i didnt get the cab" since most wonder " why didnt I get the cab?" I think the TYM gives you more for your money.

I would go with the kubota although you can get the cab on the TYM. The kubota is built to last with very good resale value down the road. Also in most cases you will have many more kubota dealers to serve you.

I dont think a cab is such a good idea on a CUT. They usually dont have too much hp to spare which limits the effectiveness of the AC (or remaining power to do real work). Also, the cab is usually too high to fit in std 7 ft doors and makes it tough mowing around trees and such. That said though, I really like a good canopy which is nearly as comfortable under the hot sun as an AC cab. I like cabs on big tractors and would much rather have one on those, but no way would I want one on a CUT. Usually the big tractor dont fit in a 7 ft door even without a cab, and the power draw for a good AC is insignificant with larger engines.

I have no clue about your land or location. But for me a cab would be a serious detriment. I have way too many trees and brances to operate around and would destroy a cab in a good days work. Not that I would'nt like working in air conditioned comfort....but a cab just dont cut it in the woods.

Man I hate to sound harsh, but I couldn't disagree more. I'm in my 40's and I like cabs more & more every year older I get. Trying to compare a canopy to an air conditioned cab is not possible. Been on both for 20+ years and the cab with AC is light years more comfy above 80 degrees and below 60 degrees. Not to mention dust, bugs, rain, allergies, etc.

I do agree cabs and woods aren't a great mix, but out in the open they're a luxury I can no longer work without.

The Kubota is a better tractor, but I'd have to know more about what the OP's typical work enviroment is like (farm, woods, utility, etc.) to give him informed advice.

I wouldn't say Kubota is a better tractor, but both are good tractors. Yes the Kubota will hold its resale better, but a cab is a expensive option and the Kubota would be much higher priced if it had a factory installed cab with heat, AC, and Stereo. You should consider if the cab will be in the way with your intended use and if it is, the TYM 433 is also available without a cab and should save you a few thousand, if you go that way. Any how compare the specs on the two tractors and make your decision, and good luck with it.

Galen, with all due respect, you're a TYM dealer, so what else would you say? ;)
TYM makes a nice tractor, but in that size category, Kubota is in a class by itself.

And BTW: I'm a former Kubota owner 3 times and a current AGCO owner. I completely sympathize with buying a less epensive brand and having $$ left for implements.

...Kubota is in a class by itself...

Only if you buy into their marketing, same as JD. Not saying that they don't make a good product, just that I don't believe they're any better than a lot of others. There's plenty of good tractors out there that aren't 'bota orange or jd green, and that don't cost both arms and both legs. This is proven just by reading thru this forum.

However, I will agree that my local 'bota dealer is in a "class" all by himself, and trust me, it's a class no dealer wants to be in - aka the arrogant, thinks-his-stuff-don't-stink, SOB class.

arksdad, personally I'd opt for the TYM w/cab, but only you can really decide. Take a look around at your property where you will be using your tractor, and think about the types of tasks you'll be using it for. Also factor in any possible future uses. Don't be concerned with how probable those uses might seem right now, just what you could possibly do with it, 'cause you know darn well, as many on here can attest to, that once you own one, you'll find all kinds of uses for it other than the primary ones.

Then ask yourself, would a cab make doing those tasks impossible? As far as tree limbs go, you can always trim the trees. I had to do this when I switched lawn mowers (higher seat).
