How much slime for a lawn mower tire?

I gave up on searching for the elusive slow leak in my dump cart tire. The local farm store has slime on sale for 1/2 price, so I bought 2 of the 16 oz. bottles. Now I need to figure out how much to put in the tire. It's a rear tire from a lawn mower.

Any suggestions?

Good luck I had a mower tire leak, used slim held for all of one maybe 2 mowings then started leaking again. Another project on the list of things to do, get a new tire and quit trying to save money by spending more on crappy fixes.

I would start with 8 oz and then see if it still leaks. You didn't say if the leak was on the tread or sidewall, but my guess is the tread. If you put in 1/2 bottle, I'd bet it will seal that slow leak very quickly. That's what I put in the rear tire of my Kawasaki Mule and it worked great. No more slow leak.

Slime works well if you have trash between the rim and bead or have a tiny puncture in the tread area. It kinda works for the fine chinese tire cracks. If you have a sidewall leak slime will do little to nothing since it is heavier than air and will just stay at the bottom of the tire.

When I have a leak in my lawn tractor tires..I have a Murray 20 HP I take it to the tire dealer and have a tube put in it..

I'd do the 8 oz thing then run it for a while to spread it around watch it for a coupe days and if need be put another 8 oz in again

and run it again don't leave it sit it needs to be worked around to find leak

I was afraid of that. I don't know where the leak is. I've gone around it on at least three different occasions looking for the leak and can't find it. I'm thinking it's on the sidewall, bead, or maybe even the rim itself. A tread leak would be easy to see.

It takes almost two days for the tire to leak down to where it's noticeable.

Could be the valve at that rate -- do you have a cap on it?

over-inflate tire some (20%) above max, then use a spray bottle of water and dishsoap. Spray and watch for the bubbles. Then use a tire plug cord.
