Anyone experienced in Vinyl Fence Washing??

We have a quarter mile of 3 Rail Vinyl along the road, its white and some green from the moss, road dust Etc ... Thought we would wash it, so took some buckets with bleach and a brush. That was not the answer. Since there is no running water by the fence ... here's the plan...

I got one of those 300 gallon water tanks, plumbed the end for a garden hose, hooked a 12V RV pump in the line and then to my pressure washer ... this is now in the carry all on the three point and waiting to be tested.

Any thoughts? Think this will wash the fence?

12V pump? I don't think it can provide the volume the pressure washer needs. Other then that, It sounds like a plan. Perhaps a gas model pump or a roller PTO pump will provide volume you need in pressure washer.

My pressure washer manual calls for a minimum 2.7 gpm .. the 12 v pump is 2.8 gpm sure hope this is enough.

Should work -- pressure washers don't typically need that much volume as you can see by the specs -- just check it frequently to make sure it is getting enough water. In terms of the vinyl, a cheap simoniz electric pressure washer works well on my vinyl decking and fence.

I would get a pump-up sprayer and mix cheap dollar store bleach 1 part to 4 parts water and spray the fence about 10 minutes before pressure washing. Spray again lightly after washing for further bleaching and whitening as the solution drys.

Jinman ... thats a good idea. I think I'll use my ATV sprayer for that. The water and Bleach solution should soften the debris and help it come off. The fence has been up for 5 years ... of course you know who pointed it out to me that it needed washing!!

I used some stuff called Jomax (walmart/lowes/home depot) that did a good job cleaning vinyl siding.. It is a detergent that you mix with bleach.. Spray it on (using pump sprayer).. let it soak in and the mold/mildew etc starts to run off.. Rinse with water and your done.. May take a couple times if really dirty..

Its really dirty and I want it done the first time, I wonder how that would work in the "soap" dispenser on the PW'r??

I would stay away from the soap dispenser and use the sprayer as Jinman suggested. Always found it to be better way to dispense cleaners, bleachs etc than through the washer -- JMHO

This is exactley how I do it and it works great!

Had I known vinal fencing would the green mold / mildew on it I would never put it up
