Ever use your tractor for revenge?

I'm part of a small HOA (15 lots) where one lot is owned by the guy who built the sub-division. This guy gave himself 6 votes as compared to everybody else's 1 vote. If he had done it legally, in a real meeting, there wouldn't be a problem.

But I'm not out for revenge on the builder. I'm out for revenge on one of the other owners that said they would pitch in for lawyer fees when we ("we" being the owners other than the builder) investigated the builder. Then after the secret meeting discussing what the lawyer found out, this ONE owner decided they didn't want to pitch in and left me to pick up their share of the bill.

Last year I was hired by the HOA to use my tractor to plow the road (1/2 mile or so). Being a nice guy, I cleared out the end of each drive way and if there were large drifts I'd get them too. So this year, everybody but ONE will get their drive way cleared. Too bad too, because that ONE is the longest drive with the tallest drifts. And I KNOW they don't have a snow blower. I'll be sure to smile and wave on my way past too.

Not my tractor, but when I had a plow on my truck I've had to make some snowbanks so someone's car couldn't possibly be driven away (without about three days worth of shoveling).

Life is too short to worry about revenge. I do use my tractor to save time and my back however.

If you live in the country there are no HOA's. My tractor hasn't been ready for a the little winter we get. Maybe this year. I would love the opportunity to help my neighbors clear their drives when we do get snow. I have weighted tires now and FEL. May not be the most efficient but should get the job done.

It's unlikely that he's going to see this as a "oh I made a mistake, I guess I better repair that bridge" but rather as a "I'll get that guy (you) for this". So before you go nuclear, just make sure that you don't need him for anything.

It looks like the HOA is going to be the battlefield for this little war. You want to make sure that you're the popular member of the HOA and that the other people side with you in you're future disagreements with him. IE, he will likely try to get the HOA snowplowing contract moved to someone else in future years, so you will need the other members support to keep that from happening.

Being popular in groups is having power. Crossing people in groups that you have to operate in is to remove you're own future support. This is exactly why the HO decision to shaft you on the bill was the stupidist move he could have made.

We have a Home Owners Association... 6 of us. We had a similar problem with one owner... now evicted and the new folks are "GREAT"!!!

So I do what I can to keep them all "Happy happy". Grade the 1/2 mile road, Plow in the winter, Brush hogg several fields.

They all think I'm doing it for "Them"... NOT! I'm doing it for ME!!!

I Brush Hog because I can't stand the 6' tall grass that they have no means to cut and "They don't care".
I maintain the road because no one else will and the last time we had it done commercially, it cost me $1400 (my share) and then they RACED up the road and it was full of pot holes in 30 day's.... GRRRRRRR!!!
I plowed the snow because "I" needed to get out. Even the County refused to plow the "MAIN" road... I ended up having to do that too.... GRRR Granted they lost 2 plow trucks, in the section of main road by my house, in the ditch. But that's because they CANT Drive!!!! They didn't even have the plow down to move snow!!!! WTH!!!

I'd love to see that same level of snow again and get a Snow Blower for the tractor and blow all the snow into the yards of the HOA's.....

But the use of my tractor... well it's all "ME" time!!!! Revenge is best served, un-noticed.

I've turned down a 60ac parcel for $75,000 in a beautiful Colorado valley with nearby lake etc. because it was part of a HOA. I'm not about to let a small number of neighbors determine what I can do with my property.

If the HOA hires you and the ONE owner pays his dues to the HOA, how can you legally not clear his snow also? I would suggest you go to each homeowner, except the ONE, and make a separate contract with each for snow removal. I think you might be able to exclude him that way, but you should check with a lawyer first. OTOH, maybe you could do that for each and every one of them...that way you could charge each by the number of feet of driveway they have...and who did you say had the longest driveway?

well, if the road and everybody elses driveway gets cleared...

you have to push the snow somewhere

Yeah I don't care to much for HOA either. But it's hard to find much that isn't part of one out here that is worth moving into. There are some neighborhoods we looked at that didn't have HOAs (that we could afford), and half of the houses and properties looked good but the other half were junkyards or trash heaps.

Personally I keep my place looking good, and don't want to risk a "good" neighbor moving out only to be replaced by somebody that wants to keep everything they've ever owned regardless of it's condition or usefulness piled up in the back yard.

In fact, that happened to the guy selling the house in the non-HOA neighborhood that we looked at. And man he was pissed too.. Great looking place (with a HUGE garage ) next to a place that they just let go to crap with junk everywhere. He is going to take a loss if he ever does manage to sell it.

Now if I could afford a place with enough land between me and "them", I wouldn't want an HOA either. Any body want chip in to help out with the mortgage bill?

he only gets paid to plow the road..he did the driveways because he is a nice guy. I think his experience has caused him to become not so nice....
