I was asking those who own a Kubota how to justify the additional cost.

The answer to this question is, for me, "I don't need to justify my purchases to anyone." I am sure the others feel the same way. We are here to share information, not justify our decisions.

paying for a name, just like all the other name brand tractors we are paying for that name. i bought a kioti dk55, it was a lot cheaper than all other brands and had a lot more standard features that were optional on the name brands. i'm sure in a few years when kioti gets its foot in the door they will boost thier prices to reflect the other too. kioti makes a great machine, i have'nt had any problems with it at all and the dealer i bought it from is a freind of mine and he has never had to do any warrantee work on any he sold in 5 years he's been in bussiness.

Yup! Exactly. I just do not believe I "over paid" for my Kubota. Sorry. I got a terrific price, and yes, I shopped the other colors, including Mahindra.

Or, maybe it was just those great Kubota decals.:confused:

Frankly I'm glad there are quality products available for a price. Seems everybody wants cheaper, cheaper, cheaper. Use it for a couple of years, it wears out, toss it into a land fill or send it to China to get recycled, poisoning a couple of villages, full of people in the process(course, that's computers, but I think the idea is the same). I bought a Toro lawn mower, like 25 years ago. Before they came with operator presence devices. I still have it, it still runs great. It was pricey back then, but it still runs(oh yeah, I haven't run over my foot with it yet either;)). I can't say if Kubotas are worth the extra money or not. I'm just a tractor-owner wannabe. Don't have one, can't compare. But I'm glad they can sell their tractors for the price they want so they can continue to make quality products in the future. And I'm really glad there are lots of brands to choose from.

I take offense to that statement !
I would bet good money that the food you grew up eating as a child was farmed with a tractor made by one of those other builder. Seeing how they were making tractors in the USA long before anybody in the USA ever heard of Kubota.

I think some of you guys are being a little hard on the OP. I don't see where he, in any of his posts, bashed Kubota at all.
It is no secret that Kubota makes an excellent tractor. It is also no secret that "in my opinion only" that Kubota tractors are priced higher. When I was shopping in 2003 the Kubota was several thousand $ higher.
Face it ! Kubota tractors are incredibly popular! 8 times out 10 whenever I see a compact tractor in a homeowners yard or on a trailer, it is a Kubota. Kubota knows that they make quality, popular tractors that are in high demand, therefore they can also demand a higher price.
If you want it, you will pay for it.

Your comment made me think, so I went back and re read the thread and stand by my original post. I don't think I am being "hard" on him, just offering an opinion based on what I read. My "opinion" may very well be different than some, but it is mine and can't change it to make someone feel better or make friends. If someone doesn't want honest opinions then they should not ask for them on an open forum.
