End of The New Yankee Workshop

You say "bulkhead" in Michigan and I'd guess 90% of the hearer's would imagine this:

Bilco Home Page

A soffit is the underside of an eave or over a cabinet.

The ducts in a basement are boxed-in. (box in, boxing)

Of course, I'm just a DIY'er tuning into the New Yankee Workshop (yes, a minor course correction) every now and again. I could be wrong.

I do get some good watching "Ask This Old House" episodes, though I guess you guys with building experience might not. They cover real things that come up when maintaining a house, like how to put a sump in a basement, or how to do various plumbing fixes. I get tired of the cute parts where they're pretending not to know what a particular weird tool is for, but I've gotten some good info on real issues. The contractor guy...what'shisname...has done windows on various episodes, and it has been neat to see how a pro would deal with some of those problems.

I tend to agree with you. I still liked the show, but the tools were too expensive and he stopped showing you how to do it with average tools. But still, really nice work. ;)

I would love to see a real life show. You know, when the guy uses pipe wrench to round up bolt heads and because he is too lazy to fetch a hammer he uses the same pipe wrench for hammering and sharpens tools on the rock behind his house and ends up cutting himself and builds a tree house using dry wall screws and nothing else, takes him forever to sweat a fitting and ends up setting the joist on fire, puts chain in the saw backwards and it does not cut ... oh well, you got the picture:D:D

Improvisation at its best as it's practised daily across America.

It's called "The Red Green Show."

A show just as you described would be a winner for sure....have you noticed almost all reruns on satellite or cable..?
