Turkey Prices for Thanksgiving

We went to a local grocery store chain (WinCo) here in the Pacific NW, and their turkeys were $0.22/lb with a $50 grocery purchase. These were frozen turkeys.

My usual luck?:D Seven days ago, I bought two turkeys for $.40 a pound. Two days later, they were all gone and the cheapest ones were $.60 a pound. This morning, they're $.33 a pound.:D If I'd waited a week, I'd have saved $.07 a pound.:D But I'm not complaining; just happy I got mine as cheap as I did, and still wonder about the poor farmer who raised them.

Hey go back and snatch them up ... get as many as you can get ... and then invite all of us for lunch!!!!!

If I had more room in the freezer, I'd sure buy some more. Unlike the grocery store hilld mentioned, you don't have to buy anything else to get the deal, but they do have signs saying "limit of 2 per customer, please".

TWO PER CUSTOMER ??? what you gonna have while we all eat your turkey ... or did you decide not to send out the invite?

Ha ha ha

Years ago my mom bought a turkey to make meat pies. It was a "second" called a "utility turkey" as it was missing a leg or something. It came with a tag on it (paper tag dangling from a wire) that said "utility turkey, some parts may be missing."

Well, my wiseguy brother took the tag and attached it to the back of my hat. I walked around all day at high school with the tag on me!:D

You should have listened to your Mom and not be wearing your hat in school :D I'll bet your brother was splitting a gut.

The turkey deals keep getting better. Today I got a letter from my local Ford dealer, from whom I bought a used car last January and who has serviced my vehicles regularly for the past 4 years, inviting me to their "V.I.P. 8 hour Savings Event" next Saturday. It says, "THERE IS NO OBLIGATION TO BUY OR LEASE ANYTHING!"

And it says, "When you arrive on Saturday, Novembrer 21, you will receive your Free Thanksgiving Turkey, compliments of Bill Utter Ford."

I guess if the deals get any better, they'll have to pay me to haul off the turkeys.:D
