We went to a local grocery store chain (WinCo) here in the Pacific NW, and their turkeys were $0.22/lb with a $50 grocery purchase. These were frozen turkeys.
My usual luck?Seven days ago, I bought two turkeys for $.40 a pound. Two days later, they were all gone and the cheapest ones were $.60 a pound. This morning, they're $.33 a pound.
If I'd waited a week, I'd have saved $.07 a pound.
But I'm not complaining; just happy I got mine as cheap as I did, and still wonder about the poor farmer who raised them.
Hey go back and snatch them up ... get as many as you can get ... and then invite all of us for lunch!!!!!
If I had more room in the freezer, I'd sure buy some more. Unlike the grocery store hilld mentioned, you don't have to buy anything else to get the deal, but they do have signs saying "limit of 2 per customer, please".
Hey Bird, dont worry, most of the wives you invite will bring the turkey they married..![]()
Ha ha ha
Years ago my mom bought a turkey to make meat pies. It was a "second" called a "utility turkey" as it was missing a leg or something. It came with a tag on it (paper tag dangling from a wire) that said "utility turkey, some parts may be missing."
Well, my wiseguy brother took the tag and attached it to the back of my hat. I walked around all day at high school with the tag on me!![]()
