I wasn't trying to sound negative, just throwing in a different view. No doubt the 5525 is a good tractor. Good luck with your decision!

I think the fully loaded deluxe model is the way to go. I think this is less costly than trading again in the next few years to get what you really wanted to start with. I would love to have a new 6430 loaded (or its replacement).

Cost and or justification though throws that out the window, I don't need anything larger than what I have now to fix small congested properties.

I'd get a bunch of them together and listen to the noise level of the engine before making a commitment from sitting on the seat. Some new tractors should come standard with ear protectors!
You might find the 4040 is relatively quiet!

They are quiet inside. I like the new 5M series but they are pretty expensive.

6115D looks like a good value - especially for haying.

You won't be haying long with a JD24T or JD410. Both are nice machines, but not for high volume work. I might be inclined to upgrade balers before I upgraded tractors. A lot less capital up front and you won't be fighting baler problems (I remember those days). I would keep both the 24T and 410 as back-ups, because break-downs do happen. Keep in mind that a 4040 with 3500 hours is just getting broken in, unless it has not been well maintained. If you said 10,000 hours, then you are begging for trouble.

I love my JD5420 especially for haying. I wouldn't go any bigger for my baling tractor. The only reason I would want a bigger tractor is for running a larger mower conditioner, but in my smaller odd-shaped fields, I do not pick up a lot of efficiency going much bigger.

To answer your actual question, both tractors will do you fine.

This is a good point! A New holland baler with the belt kicker could more then double your baling speed.

6420s rock - I could not swing the extra $$$.

Yes I agree 6420s rock. Mine has mudder tires and 16/16 power quad and its nice! Just not as clean on the inside has a weird dirt smell but its good to drive with the windows open in the cab!

I have a 5420 my self, w/ 541 Nsl loader mfwd and a cab with the 9/3 transmission good to ride in. My 5420 is so old that the cab door hydraulics the doors can close by the wind!
