I'm just tired of people and don't want anyone too close when I'm at home. So that's the reason why I bought acreage. I can't stand the sight of an overgrown field and it would take too long for 300 or 400 trees to grow in so as to look like a forest and not need regular mowing, so I will have to mow the land.

Amen.

I have a 45 on 8 acres. Takes me about 4+ hours to cut the grass, depending on weather conditions and how hard the soil is. I like it, i get to keep to myself and don't interact with anyone. If the old guy next door waves I wave back, but I don't always stop to chat with him

I have about 8 months left until I pay mine off, and then I will be extremely happy. I'll probably go buy myself a little lawn tractor then, just for cutting close to the house. I used to have a 28 hp tractor, but it took about 8 hours to cut the grass. It cut closer to the house though, as it had a little belly mower and I could get within 2-3 inches or two of most things.

have fun! I find cutting grass to be either extremely enjoyable, or a complete PITA. It never seems to fall in the middle for me. BTW, I did alot of what you did before I bought mine. It took me months to make a decision.

Well, the B3030 is out. The closest dealer did not have one in stock with a cab, but they had an open platform unit. It just felt too cramped for me. I'm 6'2" tall and have a broad/athletic build. My knees really start to rebel when I sit in any sort of cramped position for any length of time and that's the feeling I got sitting on the B3030. Since the biggest reason why I am only looking at cab tractors is for comfort there's no sense in compromising that much comfort at this point. So it looks like if I go Kubota, it will be a Grand L tractor.

Lt., I too am new guy analyzing the situation. I have 6 ac and have had a BX2200, FEL, MMM, rear box blade since 2002, mostly used to mow about half of the acerage. Now I need/want to work the land: dig out a wet ground water retention pond, extend driveway, tier a slope for planting grape vines, and extend the grass area. I too am now craving the creature comfort of a cab - in TX, I need AC about 7 of 12 months, and would realy like to get out of the pollen/dust. So I am about to pull the trigger on a Grand L3240 HST-C, FEL, MMM and add a Walenstien or other? chipper. After reading the posts on your thread, I'm wondering if I should extend a little and get the L3540 or maybe even the L3940 to up the HP in the same frame. Hard to know how much is enough?!

Why do you guys want a MM on a Cut? I could see on a sub-cut but I do plowing, discing, logging in the woods, ect. I get hung up as is so a MM would be the death of me. I have a 72" Caroni rear Finish Mower that does a great job and with the quick hitch can have it on and off in about 2 minutes.

I agree. If had of known that when we got our 1523, We would have went RFM. Oh well, maybe next time. :) There are pros and cons to both, but I guess they are more preference than anything else, right??

Look at other brands with cabs. I found the L cab to be smaller than others, too. My AGCO/Challenger/MF series cab is roomier in some aspects. Look at other brands, you may find they're roomier, too. I'm spoiled by my LB115 cab. You could have a keg party in it, but I did think the K cabs, even the M series were on the smaller side.

If this is the thead for buying his tractor, I can't wait to see the thread for his implement selection. We'll kill him with knowledge.:)

Good point DiamondPilot - Just had been using a MM mower for so long, thought that was the way to go for big lawns, needing tight radius turns around mulched trees, et al. Now, after your and other posts here at TBN, I am discovering the flail mower. Could use the savings and get the bigger, better FEL, or more horsepower (L3540, L3940). Noticed that you can get 73" flail mower with finish knives!? How does work? Do they really give you finish cut? I really like the idea of rear discharge and no projectile launching

With experience, a mid mount takes about 15 minutes to dismount. JD, Kubota and some others now offer drive over quick attach MM decks that make it faster than your rear finish mower

Other than the first few tries, never too longer than 5 with our MF 1505 MMM. Once you get the hang of it, it is a breeze.

But, I can see the advantages of an RFM too, no brackets hanging down below the tractor. The next one will be an RFM, no doubts.
