New Brand of Tractors

Duckhunt, who's your dealer and where is he located ?

Mtn view Ranch, I'm thinking like you are once everyone figures out that these tractors are the same as I have heard that the korean company LG supplies engines, transmissions, front & rear axles to montana, farmtrack, mahindra, and now there own brand people will just buy the cheaper brand.

The brands that are supplied by LG will be forced to sell the same tractors against each other except for a difference in color and styling and will end up having to sell them for nothing.. It's A WIN WIN for LG in the end.

gumshu,

My dealer told me that the comparable model to my Mahindra 2816 would run about 2000 less than the Mahindra price. To scale that down, my mahindra cost about 2000 less than the kubota or deere. As far as the quality, I have no idea, but you have a 5 year warranty, 4 cylinder mistsi, higher lift capcity, higher fel capacity, synco shuttle standard, quick attach standard. Like I said earlier, I was very impressed with specs and price.

But some might be right, they may be a fly by night company. My dealer said he has a contract to start assembling 500 a year, increased by 100 by per year for 3 years. They will be shipped out to other dealers I assume.
Thanks Duckhunt. Sounds reasonably priced.

I think these new blue tractors have something to do with the relationship that has been started with Branson and LS
Some of the models look just like the Kujkie Brsanson's

Here's the VIN tag on my Landini, made by LS. :) 41 hp HST, 37 PTO hp, the tractor is quite heavy and is very sturdy.

Rick, are you thinking about Branson-Montana deal. I have not heard of any Branson-LS deal. I thought that Montana and LS had parted ways? If LS is selling to these other guys also, then LS is selling through 5 different companies? Man I sure hope that they have some good people in their office to keep all of this stuff straight.

These tractors have been around for some time. They are Chinesse now owned by Mahindra. They went under the name Lenar. Mahindra has also bought Jinma, which I currently own one of and really like. They are basic tractors that are built heavy and tough. Basically they cleaned up some small quality issues and are now marketing them in the US again under the LS name. LS=Lenar Synchro. These tractors were available here for some time in small numbers by small importers. Here is a press release that was posted on another site dedicated to Chinese tractors about a year ago. You will see the Jinmas follow in the same fashion in the near future more than likely.

Mahindra purchased the Lenar factory and that is where these new Mahindra models are being built. Mahindra spent years developing and upgrading their new Chinese tractor before allowing it to be marketed to the United States market. <br /><br />Prior to its introduction, the President of Mahindra visited our facility in Keno, OR to discuss this model and its attributes. This model was supplied with a 2 year parts and labor warranty, showing the Mahindra quality work and dedication to the new model tractor. <br /><br />Since the launch, Keno Tractors has sold numerous units of the 2525 model. Our customers say they are a good value for the money. They come standard with the Shuttle-Shift Full-Synchromesh Transmission, R-4 Tires and American made Front End Loader, just as the rest of the Mahindra line. They are definitely different than the old Lenar tractors. Any one interested, can either call us at Keno Tractors or refer to Mahindra's website for more information.

Chris

Your absolutely right that the Mahindra 2525 (2541 EC in Europe) is a former Chinese Lenar, improved with Hitachi starter, parker pumps and Mahindra Engine. But that is not the same tractor as thread starter mentioned. The LS is a different Korean brand. > ?? ??

Thanks for the clarification, Sweden-Art.

What a shame to see all that cut & paste for nothing.

Just to confirm some of the posts here. LG's tractor division became LS 2 or 3 years ago, it is the same company. I understand LG/LS is no longer supplying Montana, (Montana is going to Kuje/Branson as a supplier). My take is that as a manufacturer, LS has decided to be responsible for their own distribution in the US. KIOTI made a similar move years ago when they took over thier US distribution. In as competitive market as we have now, it is becoming increasingly more difficult for distributors to compete directly with manufacturers. For example, LS is currently offering incredible (in my opinion) pricing on a 28.5HP S3010 which is the same basic tractor as the old Farmtrac 270 except it has a 4 cylinder mitsubishi engine instead of the daedong (kioti) engine. This tractor can be purchased currently at "around $13,000" equipped with a very stout loader (local prices may vary). backed with a 5 year limited warranty. I have not heard anything concerning LS distribution agreements with McCormick (which I think also includes Landini) It could be that McCormick/Landini being italian companies, offer some worldwide distribution that is of continuing interest to LS, but Montana sales are mostly US based.

Does anyone know why Montana parted ways with LG as their supplier for engines and transmissions ?

On LG's website under new's LG is putting in a distubution center in N.Carolina and will also manufacture implements there for their LG brand.

I don't think they have a dealer network in the U.S at the moment.

Again as I said earlier, I believe that once the customers fiqure out that all these compact tractors have the same engines and transmission they will just buy the cheaper brand in the end and with LG bringing its own brand to the US well go fiqure who's brand will be cheaper.

Internet shoppers and TBN readers make up the vast, vast minority of tractor buyers. Remeber that 90% of this business is still tied up by Kubota, New Holland and Deere and a vast majority of people have never heard of Mahindra, Kioti, etc. We all visit a website that is plastered with their advertisments so they have become normal names here, but not in the market place. Its going to take a huge effort for LS to make inrodes into the market. Small import companies like this have existed for years and none have gained a nationwide market share over 10%, Mahindra has probably had the best regional success. There has been a market shift towards less expensive tractors, and your seeing the major players respond to that with more economey models (Kubota B3300SU, Std M's, New Holland 'Work Master', Deere e-series). You'll always have some pricing advantage by the less estabilished companes, but I don't see it adding up to enough to give them a real catalyst for growth that other companies have been unable to achieve.
