Seafoam

seafoam is great stuff, i will not use any other fuel, or oil additive for gasoline engines except for storage. i use it to keep powervalves clean in sleds, this past summer i was restoring an old chapparal and the bowls were nasty green algae and such poured a little seafaom in there and could watch it bubble off. this past august my road warrior developed a horrible noise, it's a 99 saturn sc2 with 180,000 miles on it. it sounded like a sewing machine i figured what the heck and i dumped a can of it in with the oil. within 10 miles the noise has gone and i have driven it for almost 6,000 miles since. it maybe 8 bucks a pop but it works and was cheaper than a used engine or another car.

LOL...Bud, if you had to clean an intake this is normal..What are you scared of hydro-lock? Anything you spray can do that...Seafoam, water..

If you tried both, based on your post you have NOT, water will work 10X better..Seafoam is overprice at $3 a can. Try it and see since you have not..

I'm not talking about pouring -ANYTHING- into my carb while running.. I believe we are talking about fuel addatives.

and yes.. I'm familiar with 'steam cleaning'.. it's why blown head gaskets usually revail a couple pristine cyl's..

sw03 the only place water will be intentionally placed on any of my engine will be on the exterior of the motor no one will be able to convince be otherwise.

When auto manufacturers do examinations as to why an engine failed, any water that gets inside leaves several tell tale signs that the inspectors catch almost every time. I have never been an internal engine inspector for any large corporation or warranty company, but I have sat in on some of their training courses because a lot of the info is interesting to me. If I recall correctly, ingestion of H2O leaves 'fish eye' looking pock marks that are gray in color. These fish eye shaped pock marks alone generally do not lead to catastrophic engine failure but are one link in a specific chain of events where H2O destroys an engine. It must be relatively widely accepted as fact because there is legal precedent where this type of H20 contamination evidence is admissible in court.

But, don't forget that there are several water passages within your engine where water, or generally antifreeze and water, must flow to keep your liquid cooled engines cool. So there are several places in your engine where water actually belongs, but those places are segregated from places where oil and fuel is present.

Yes, use it on my gas engines and seems to work well. Haven't tried it on the diesels yet......definitely not hurting them!

You and some others sound like water will kill you engine. Seafoam used for intake cleaning would and could do the same thing (*hyro-lock) you engine.

I have used seafoam for years and thought it worked great still I did some homework on it and I would never buy it.

And in reguards of a fuel add, nope. Better products cheaper per oz.

seafoam won't hydrolock the engine if added to the fuel.
