Seafoam

seafoam won't hydrolock the engine if added to the fuel.

Yup but again it does not do much either. Much better adds to add to your fuel..

most of those adds have a near negligible effect without lab quality testing and a baseline to compair to.

I like seafoam products, especially for dewatering sumps.. and I know their safe.. not too spendy either.. all in all.. not bad for the average snake oil for a gasser. ( now talking diesel.. whole different ball of wax... stanadine, power service or the new prestone cleaner... ).

Pulled out the 20 year old Honda EX1000 yesterday... hadn't used it in years...

Keep it chained down in the van and about 10 years ago was the last time I filled the tank... I have a 1500w inverter that I use all the time... didn't have enough extension cords yesterday to run the sewer rooter.

The tank was bone dry. Added fresh fuel and would start and immediately die.

Added about an ounce of seafoam and let it sit with the quart of new fuel and it started today on the first pull and ran sweet...

Special at the parts house... 3 cans for $19.90

My old '76 blazer was running like crap, until I put two cans of sea foam in it. It's a 40 gallon tank. I dumped the stuff in, filled the tank, drove it home. After about a week of running a couple hours a day, it starts easier and idles nice. I'm not usually a fan of additives except anti-gelling stuff for diesel. Wether it was the seafoam that cleaned up the carb or the fresh gas, something worked. The remaining gas in the blazer to start with was only a few months old, so not rotten yet.

I did not think it would work, even after a local parts store told me about it. My four wheeler was running really bad, so I put some seafoam into the tank, within a few minutes it was running good. It works for me so I use it all the time now in all my equipment.....

I've got a couple small garden tractors that I'm working on for a winter project. Been years since one ran, so going to try the Seafoam. Most of my older single cylinder tractors, I've used MMO for years, since no lead came out. Found that out, from the guy that rebuilt the head on the 223 cu. in. Ford 6 popper in my then, '64 1 ton Ford. Way cheaper than the stellite valve seats.

On the matter of water in the engine. How many remember John Deere had water injection of the old Model D's, to prevent pinging on distilate, or kerosene..?? I have some friends that had an old D with that on. Guess the old girl really got with the program, when they turned the water on.

You can't put too much in a tank of gas, did it one time and it ran faster than it ever had.

Try not to over think things.
