I had a 5 acre field sprigged in coastal earlier this year. Considering the extreme drought in Central Texas I got a pretty good stand. I also got many vines that grow along the ground and produce a bunch of pods that look like smallish limes that turn lemon yellow.

How do I get rid of these without killing the coastal?

I don't know if its anything I have encountered without seeing it, but what I have done on occasion is take the weed I am trying to kill into my local fertilizer store or co-op. If they sell weed killers, they usually have dealt with the weed and know what to apply to kill it.

Google Passion Fruit and see if it looks like it. There are 500 different kinds. They taste great.

could be passionfruit too. the nightshade fruit are MUCH smaller. they aren't but about as big around as a nickel

I googled passionfuit and the shape is much more round than on the plant infesting my field.

These are the size of a small lemon or lime - 2 to 2.5 inches long, and inch and a half across, oblong shaped, smooth skin. They start out lime green and turn lemon yellow. The vine is flat on open ground and is too low to mow.

I'll take pics next time I am at the farm.

If this is your plant, it's buffalo gourd. It's not very aggressive.

No thats not it. Each branch has several smaller leaves plus the vines lay flat on the ground.
I saw one of these a year or so ago and none a month ago and now these things are all over my hay field.
I was thinking about putting the yard rake on the tractor and trying to gather them all up but I am afraid of what happens if the pods bust open.
