I agree, it's amazing the cost of most anything today. I'm 49 and remember when the old man gave me $20.00. I thought I was rich. Country slowly going to crap.

I'm amazed daily at the price of things... other than consumer electronics/appliances... I seen price increases across the board... must have something to do with the falling dollar.

Standard Knobs for a $269 magic chef range cost almost $80...

Some GE cooktop knob are priced around $32 each.

Bought the same model ISE Garbage Disposers last year for $120 and now almost $170...

Rents have been flat... but the overhead costs of operating rentals continues to escalate.

When I used a Kero heater and the price of it started going up, I went to the local small airport and bought 5 gallons of #1 Jet fuel, it was only about 1/2 the price of Kero. I used it for years and it worked well.

I don't know if it's true or not but I was told it's nothing but Kero anyway.

...and no doubt SOMEONE can remember when $50 or $100 a week was a GOOD wage ?

So what ?
It is the wealth illusion for the masses, get more over time but pay more.
Merit increases ? Cost of living adjustments if you're lucky.

We run as fast as we need to keep up with the treadmill, we don't GET anywhere.

Isn't money the ultimate Ponzi scheme of governments ANYWAY ?

Of course I can. I even still have some of the paystubs from my first year as a police officer. I started at $370 a month. And instead of being paid every two weeks, as in later years, we were paid on the 9th and 24th of each month.

I wish I could get my hands on some leftover Jet-A...Its just highly refined kero..3.25 a gallon around here for regular kerosene.

Have to heat my shop with this stuff, don't have NG in these parts. Gets very painful in a hurry. Don't want the risk of a wood burner and don't want the supporting expense of a pellet stove...Kinda stuck, don't like playing the commodity markets to buy heating oil.

Thinkin outloud here. Years back when the min. wage was $1.70{something} fuel was around $.60 a gal. Now the min wage is $7.++{something} and fuel is around the $3.00 mark. My question is how much worse is it in really?
