I paid right around $20k in November 08 from a NY dealer "Emerichs" for a similar setup. I know there have been at least a couple price increases since then but $25k sounds high to me to. I would also check with Barlows in KY.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I'm getting more reasonable pricing in the $21 - $22 range.

For 25k you could get a 3240 set-up with factory cab if you shop around a bit.

Way to high for a non cab 3240.

Check Barlows

I know we could beat this price as well. If you want we'll be glad to price it for you. We are in North AL.

Sure. I'd be glad to get your price quote, to include a trade-in if you're interested. I was stationed at Redstone Arsenal years ago and drove through Centre, AL a couple of times. You're a straight shot and nearly all interstate driving from Johnson City.

I have got a L3240HST with kubota loader with 25 hrs for sale if interested it is like new. I am in Alabama. MSG me if interested

Hey I've been looking for a good used 3240HST, or 3520HST. I'm focused on getting a cab model, prefer the 724 FEL with QA and 3rd valve option for grapple use, R4 tires.

Well, now I'm considering going with more horsepower - after reading lots of opinions to that effect on other email strings: "you'll never regret getting more HP than you need". My local Kubota dealer visited my property and recommended I go w/ Ag tires and not the R4s. Rationale is that the Ag tires provide better grip on hills, at least as wide a stance and they won't really mess up my turf all that much - especially since I don't have a lawn I'm trying to protect. Rationale for more HP is that the L3240 has 25 PTO HP which is the minimum needed for my Rhino 160 cutter.

So... do I go with the L3540 or bump up to the L3940, which is what my local dealer recommends? I will mostly use the tractor for bush hogging, occasional FEL work, (maybe add a grapple), and maintain about 1/4 mile of gravel driveways. Someday, maybe, I'll add a BH. I have 50 acres of mostly wooded, steep hills - about 5 - 10 acres of that is mowable. If I stayed with the L3240 could I still maintain the minimum 25 HP needed for the PTO while I'm mowing the hills? Your opinions are appreciated!

I had a B7800 and used a 6' Landpride RFM behind it. No problems ever or even slow down on my hills, it did sort of swing my B around at the bottom of the hill when I turned but knew it was going to happen so no problem. I traded it for a L3240HST+ which weighed 1700 lbs more than the B7800 with about same HP. By the time I was near the crest of my hill with the RFM running the L was slowing down. That extra weight makes a difference, in some cases good and some cases bad. I traded the L for a B3200, not because of the slowing down but because I feel more comfortable on hill side with the B's than I did with the L. Some say that's strange but it's still the way I felt/feel. The height on the L must be what made me feel uncomfortable is my conclusion but whatever the reason, it was bad enough for me to trade back to a B. Just one mans opinion from one mans personal experience with the 3 different machines and my hillsides.

Warvalley,
Started a reply earlier and lost it... or may end up with double post:eek:.

Anyway, I started looking at the 3400, then the 3240 and ended up with the 4240 HST. Once I decided on a larger HP I decided the 4240 allowed me to get the 854 loader which had lifting ability. I did add a backhoe at the time of purchase so I could finance and do not regret it at all. I have used it a great deal. I did not get a cab as I am in and out of woods etc a lot. The HST is great for FEL and I find it handy running the bushog in and around back up and out of trees.

Good luck, it will be interesting to see where you may settle.
