which machine would you like to hear about tractor or dozer. Had the tractor in mud half way up engine and allmost touching seat post. Dozer was in up to the floor boards, had to dig under{over 3'} so we could jack up and place boards. Soft clay is a real blast ;)

Save yourself the trouble and wait until it dries. I took my BX24 into the my woods and had to leave it until it dried out. It just isn't worth it. You're already doubting and asking questions, if you get stuck you will really be ticked.

Having a BX24 with turfs, I went on my other lot to the BACK part of the lot to pull my trailer to the truck. As I started going up the gentle slope but on slippery clay, I started to spin. Stopped, shifted in 4 then tried to go, went 1 foot and got deeper in mud. engaged the diff lock and dug deeper before I had a chance to react. Dropped the trailer and tried to get out - no go. ARGH! This was in the rain and I had my best sneakers on and nice jacket :(. I attempted to crab my way out, and only can do 2 inches at a time due to soft nature of mud. It wasnt long before the bucket couldnt grab on to anything. Already an hour has gone by and I was soaked to the bone. I ended up getting some planks to put on the bucket for some sortof surface to grab onto- Long story short I had to take a different route out and now I have 2 paths with ruts and no trailer. . I waited for 2 days for the freeze to take place and I was able to get the trailer out, but it was a bumpy ride out due to the ruts I made.

I would say I'm lucky.....I live in sand country. My BX sees no mud.

I have both R-1 and Turf tire sets and I have found that it is in your best interest to be using the R-1s when in mud situations
R-4s turn into slicks just like turfs do but if you get stuck with R-1s you are going to be MAJOR STUCK and it won't be the least bit fun
I've been there quite a few times with R-1 tires
Be sure to check out your conditions (weather, temps). Can you easily get out ect.
Regards and be safe

I no longer do anything in the mud, but if you insist it should only be tried with R1 tires; won't even try it with R4's.

BX25 in the mud by a stream. R4 tires, 4wd + diff lock and I just dug myself right in... Deep enough that the mud was coming over the sides of the deck.

That's when i found out the hydraulics won't really lift the whole tractor up, especially not when its stuck in like that.

I broke my winch trying to get it out then sank 1/4 face cord of firewood into the mud trying to get traction.

I eventually got it out using the FEL and backhoe (which, thankfully, was attached) and a few well placed logs and 2x6x12 boards.

My girlfriend was sworn to secrecy since she's the one who said "why are we carrying this [shovels full of mud] all the way over there, just bring the tractor closer".

I allowed no photos to be taken.
