It's 15 degrees here today. I started my B2620 and it made a strange sound at first but started and ran normally. A few seconds later I see a small amount of antifreeze on the garage floor on both sides of the tractor. I killed the engine, popped the hood and noticed the source of the leak at the base of the radiator hose coming into the top of the motor. The clamp was tight. I'm speculating that it froze and pressure built up? I called the dealer and they said to top it off with antifreeze, let it warm up and call them back if it continued to leak. I didn't lose enough to need to add any and it is no longer leaking. I'm just curious as to the cause. Anybody?

It sounds as if the water portion froze and expanded under the radiator hose clamp band.

I would check the radiator clamps condition and check the hydrometer readings for the anti freeze to be safe.

From what I remember of the older kubotas etc. there is no overflow/as it is not a cross flow radiator with a vent cap to the over flow tank with a vacuum when cold.

Perhaps the best thing to do is pop the hood and release the cap during the times it is unused-please dont get burned though.

I can't explain the 'strange noise' but for the leak it is quite common for hose connections to leak when it gets cold.

I believe it was the sound of the antifreeze spraying out of the connection. Thanks!

Any update?

I had an old Fairlane, back in the 60's that did a similar thing. To end my leaking misery, I removed the hose ends. Cleaned the area completely and as well as wiped out the hose ends good. Took shellac, (that's what we used back then and it still works good) which is similar to Hi Tack or gasket seal, the red sticky stuff, and re-tightened with new, good, clamps. End of problem.

Back then, those factory clamps were notoriously bad and cheap. A good worm gear clamp can do wonders.

Give us an update when you get a chance.
